LOLLIPOP UNWRAPPED

My latest mixset is Dirtypop at its best. This mix highlights the emerging retro "Disco/Not Disco" sound along with the omnipresent electro-grooves of the hottest dancefloor packing house, trance & tribal club remixes.  Inspired by some of Europe's trendiest clubs, this latest mix celebrates the Dirtypop couture clubbing mode of the French personnes de partie.  Check out the song tempo transitions in the middle of the mix, it will even send the (normally jaded) Marais dancefloors into a manic frenzy!LE DIRTYPOP MÉLANGE DE DANSE(Mélange De Lollipop D'ÉlectroParis)Danni Minogue ft Indeep - Put the Needle On It (Cicada Sonic Vocal Mix)Chromeo - Needy Girl (Lifelike Mix)Kimberley Locke - Fall (Piper Club Mix)Michelle Williams - We Break the Dawn (Lost Daze Club Mix)Robyn - Handle Me (Soul Seekerz Club Mix)Madonna ft Nelly - Give It 2 Me (Oakenfold Sonic Mix)Paula Abdul - Dance Like There's No Tomorrow (Soul Seekerz Club Mix)Ralph Falcon - Break You (The Cube Guys Mix)Morgan Page ft Lassie - The Longest Road (Discount Rhinos Mix)Miguel Picasso - The Rhythm of the Night (Psychofunky Mix)Cherish - Killa (Bryan Reyes Club Mix)Kim Sozzi - Like a Star (Peter Luts Mix)Oakenfold ft One Republic - Not Over (Robert Vadnaey Mix)Filo & Peri - Anthem (Original Mix)Kylie Minogue - All I See (Sonic Tempo Change Mix)Leona Lewis - Bleeding Love (Kings Of Soul Vocal Mix)Sugababes - About You Now (Sticky Extended Mix)K-Klass - Getting Ready (Wideboys Miami Mix)Madonna & Justin - 4 Minutes (Bob Sinclar Space Funk Mix)Estelle - American Boy (Soulseekerz Club Mix)Natasha Bedingfield - Pocket Full Of Sunshine (Stonebridge Club Mix)Kylie Minogue - In My Arms (Steve Pitron & Max Sanna Mix)Usher - Love in This Club (Disco Fries Club Mix)Bellatrax ft Sophia May - I Can't Help Myself (Sunfreakz Extended Mix)Danity Kane - Damaged (Tyler Nelson Mix)Basshunter - Now You're Gone (Fonzerelli Mix)

I know it's hard to believe, but I'm a Fire, I want to get Low and have you Touch My Body. Oh baby, What Do You Want From Me? It seems to be 6 of 1 Thing or half a dozen of another. Just Relax - I don't need any more Disco Lies. I want The Right Life. How do I Break the Ice? Since I met you at the Funplex I can't get you out of my thoughts. Have Mercy on me, me amore."

The legend continues...

It has been two decades since I produced my last "Top Tune Medley". My previous medleys have traveled the world and are even featured in a full color, printed, historical reference book "The Bootleg Guide to Disco Acetates , Funk, Rap & Disco Medleys".

It is sure an honor to have my work immortalized in the American Library of Congress!  Many things have changed in the club/music scene.  It is my opinion that the iconic medley is gone forever.  Back in the day, there was usually only one club version of a song released.  When you were in a club and heard a few familiar notes of your favorite jam - you became euphoric!  All it took was a few recognizable notes and you knew you were about to enjoy a favorite club anthem.  Nowadays crowds aren't really sure what they are dancing to until the vocals start.  At last count, Britney Spears' "Gimme More" had no less than 38+ remixes!  The iconic version of a song is dead. RIP. With the fracturing of the dance music market into so many sub-genres, it was a challenge to select what I felt was either the most recognizable dance mix of a song or the version that was able to retain the same vibe as the one I usually spin.

The other big challenge for this production was the current use of extended no-beat breakdowns. In the context of a medley that moves along so quickly, breaks are a real energy killer.  Unfortunately another popular trend is to place most of the recognizable vocals in this beat-less break then follow that with some instrumental "electrified" beats (you know who you are!).  For these reasons, a majority of tracks used had additional studio production added so they'd be suitable in the context of my medley.  Most of the versions of these songs only exist in DJ Lollipop's world, which of course only adds more interest and is another reason to listen louder and more intently!

Since I am so blessed to have "Lollipop" fans literally all over the world, I took a global approach to this musical production.  Great dance music transcends language & cultural barriers.  Get ready to shake that thang!  I worked hard to create a classic mix that accurately represents 2007, & will stay relevant, lasting as long as the first medley I did in my bedroom studio way back in 1981.  I'm sure "Lollipop's 2007 Top Tune Medley" will be one of your new favorite mixes.

This is the official soundtrack to the amazing video production "Decade of Dance" that featured the best the 80's had to offer!  This audio/video mix was originally designed as to be the New Years Eve 1990 video countdown for the Clubland nightclub chain.  It was an incredible sensation to be in a huge, packed club and watching people lose their shit when this was debuted.  The reason why?  It features only the biggest dance hits from a decade that introduced us to technological innovations like MTV, the Walkman, and personal computers.  Hear them all, year-by-year, in the neatly-packaged Lollipop's 80's Decade of Dance.  "Like 'fer shure!"
