We talk about whether or not this is a "sequel" to Harvest. Mike brings up Russ's recent medical procedure. Mike also brings up Hootie and the Blowfish an unusual amount of times. But not nearly as many times as Russ brings up Ben Keith. It's borderline worrisome. Luke eats some fudge and thinks it may have been of the medicated variety. Do we actually talk about Neil? It's the holiday season and let me tell you, Youngsters, the boys are MERRY in this one. Mike brings some pecan pie and it sets our spirits bright for a good fireside chat about Weld and Arc. This album is so good. The horse is back and better than ever on Neil's 18th studio - Ragged Glory! Luke mixed up a few delicious Squirt based drinks and we get into it. Russ and Mike talk themes. Luke loves the way it was recorded. We come up with a questionable name for the drinks Luke made. About an hour into the episode, Luke gets noticeably annoyed at connection issues with his iPad. He wonder's why it keeps f*ckin up. Luke and Russ love Mother Earth. Mike not as much. We all agree, when it comes to Ragged Glory, we could listen "over and over".

Super excited to have Patterson Hood from the Drive-By Truckers join us to talk about Freedom! We're all pretty in love with this album. We talk about how happy we are to finally be out of the 80's records, but also how this one wouldn't be what it is without them. We talk about Neil's influence on Patterson and DBT, and how sad it is that songs written in the 60's and 70's about racial injustice are still somehow relevant today. Luke loves Don't Cry. A lot. Russ finds a way to bring up Ben Keith every 12 seconds. Mike and Patterson reminisce about shows in Richmond. We had a blast.

Don't believe the rumors, Youngsters. We didn't record this episode for Pepsi, Coke, Miller or Bud. This pod's for you. Not gonna lie, there's A LOT of tangents in this one. We get sidetracked quite a bit. Mike whipped up some delicious Blue Notes and we went down quite a few side roads: the archives, The Band, Eric Clapton, Christian Ska Music. You know, the usual. We did talk about the album, though, I swear. Luke brought up the video for the title song. Russ really loved Twilight. Mike thought Coupe DeVille was perfect. We dip our feet into the Live from the Blue Note album just a tiny bit. We talk about the temptations of corporate sponsorship and how different genres use horns. All in all, it was a blast.

It's probably our most contentious episode yet! Wildly mixed reviews from the boys on this album. Luke thinks Neil pulls a Sully and lands it, but the other boys vehemently disagree. Russ comes in hot. He's not a fan of the drums and bass, and keeps trying to pick fights with Mike about 80's music. Mike sometimes takes the bait and sometimes doesn't. Mike likes the song Pressure but not much else. Luke, who in the past has said otherwise, comes out with a very favorable review of the whole album, but it might be just a hippie dream.
