This long read, written and recited by HnH senior researcher Joe Mulhall, describes the 200,000 strong march to celebrate the 100th year of independence in Poland (on November 12th 2018) which has become a rallying point for nationalists across the world. Marching alongside ordinary Poles were extreme neo-nazis, far-right flags from Forza Nuova and Generation Identity, as well as the leadership of the ruling Law and Justice party (PiS) who helped facilitate the parade on behalf of fascist groups. Joe considers how this public display of nationalist unity represents the mainstreaming of extreme far-right views in Poland, and beyond.
