Are you constantly telling yourself that you're an idiot, or questioning your decisions or saying not-so-kind things to yourself in your mind?
Do you find the constant chatter in your mind is stressing you out or making you feel down about yourself and your situations in life?
This comes from the destructive and constant negative self-talk that so many of us fall prey to, without even really knowing that we're doing it.
In this episode of Longing For The Spirit: The Podcast, I look at why we get into that type of language, the effects it has on us, what kind of negative filters we view the world and of course, how to shift that negative self-talk to something more positive and empowering.
If you want a copy of the cheat sheet on how the 12 ways to change your negative self-talk, just email me at: [email protected] and put the word "self-talk" in the subject line and I will send you the sheet as soon as possible!
Do you meditate, pray, chant, post countless inspirational memes, practice yoga daily and clean your chakras but still feeling like you're a ticking time bomb of rage? Do you know someone who is overly cheery, has dream catchers everywhere, never lets their guard down, refuses to be unhappy and reminds everyone that the glass is always half-full?
These may be examples of spiritual bypassing.
In this episode, we look at what spiritual bypassing is, how it manifests in people's lives, and why it's dangerous to your growth. We also look at ways to overcome this bypassing, so that you are more complete and whole, rather than fragmented.
If you feel that spirituality is letting you down and not changing anything in your life, then you will want to listen to this episode.
And if you want to get a copy of the spiritual bypassing cheat sheet, which tells you how bypassing shows up and how to defeat it, then email me at: [email protected] and put the word "bypass" in the subject line. And I will send it to you as soon as possible, and put you on the email list for notices like book giveaways, new episodes of this and Buzzkill Pod, etc.
In this episode of Longing For The Spirit, I speak to Claire Rudy Foster, a queer, nonbinary trans writer and author. They are also an addict in recovery, a divorce survivor and solo parent. They have seen their fair share of transitions, of all kinds, and they are here to talk about them with candor, humour and grace.
Please make space in your day for this interview. With their second collection of short stories, Shine of the Ever, coming out soon (November 5, 2019), Foster shares about the challenges and rewards of writing from true authenticity, and how their writing has changed as they have. They talk about the losses they incurred as they moved through their own journey. They talk about how it is like to make the shift in pronouns - mentally, emotionally and even medically / physically.
We also get a fantastic overview on HOW to talk to trans people. If you're like me (a cishet), you probably have questions about how to approach someone who is trans. Claire Rudy Foster breaks it down and gives a LOT of information. I invite you to get the cheat sheet for this! It's packed full of wonderful tips and techniques. In the end - just be kind and open-minded.

Being a perfectionist is good, right?
It means that you are meticulous, careful, professional and above all, willing to go above and beyond.
Or does it?
Perfectionism is a form of mental anguish that actually increases stress and reduces productivity. Perfectionists suffer mental and physical consequences. Striving for the impossibility of perfection leaves its disciples defeated, depressed and even suicidal.
Fear of failure, low self-esteem, defensiveness and a host of other symptoms crop up when we go down the path of perfectionism.
Can you relate?
In this episode, I tackle the reasons why perfectionism is draining and what it looks like in our lives. I also give you tips and techniques to combat perfectionism.
As usual, if you want a copy of the tip sheet, email me at [email protected] and use the subject like "imperfect" and I will send you the cheat sheet and also add you to the growing Paul Silva Coaching email community.
Imagine not knowing who you are.
That is, not knowing the real you.
You've been programmed to think and be a certain way, but is that the way you were created to be? Do you often feel that you're you missing something?
In this episode, Doug Dane, the "Stuckbuster", explores mistaken identity and how to reclaim your true self-identity.
Doug knows about being stuck and dealing with a mistaken identity - his story, which he shares here, is a harrowing and chilling one - but one that has brought him insight and wisdom, which he uses to help others get out of their own mistaken identities.
Doug also discusses how to unmask your mistaken identity and explains the six steps to reclaim you self-image.
And to get your FREE copy of those six steps to a new self-image, just email me at: [email protected] and put "Image" in the subject line and I will send you a copy as soon as possible!
