We remember Walden "Butch" Jefferson, a long-time former member of Mansfield City Council, who died on Monday. He was 72. Walden Jefferson was a Mansfield man through and through. He was born in Mansfield to W.B. Jefferson Sr. and Pearl Jefferson, in March of 1949. Jefferson attended Mansfield Senior High School. After graduating, Jefferson served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and Operation Desert Storm, earning a Bronze star.
