Rob Manning is an experienced engineer at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. He's an expert on landing spacecraft on the surface of Mars utilizing very creative techniques like airbags (Pathfinder, Spirit and Opportunity) and the skycrane maneuver on Curiosity.

Tom Kalinske was the CEO of Sega from 1990 to 1996, guiding the company from obscurity to market dominance. He talks about the rise and fall of Sega's hardware, and the difficulties he eventually ran into trying to convince the company's board of directors to partner with Sony or Silicon Graphics on a next generation game player. Kalinske is prominently featured in the new book Console Wars and will also be in an upcoming documentary based on the book.

This is an interview I shot for my cable access TV show called "30/30" back in January of 1990 - right after the 1989 holiday season. I was 13 years old. This was the year that saw the release of the Sega Genesis, Turbografx 16, Gameboy, and the Atari Lynx. The show started out as kind of a mishmash of stuff but started to focus in on video games. In this interview I talk with Steve Sepowski who managed the local Ultimate Game Club store in Old Saybrook, Connecticut. We talk about the holiday season and what he thought the 1990's would bring for video gamers at the time. I will keep looking through my archives to see if anything else from that show might be relevant for retro video game fans!

Blake J. Harris, author of the new book Console Wars, joined me for a 30 minute interview about the book and the battle between Nintendo and Sega in the early to mid 90's. Harris is currently working on a documentary based on the book which will be followed by a feature film from Seth Rogan! Very exciting stuff.

Andreas Goeldi from Pixability joins us to talk about a research study he conducted into the interaction of consumer electronics brands and independent content creators on YouTube. Goeldi offers some fascinating insights on how to create a successful product review channel but also what brands should be thinking about when it comes to this emerging medium. Out of the billions of YouTube video views on consumer electronics, only a small fraction of those views go to the manufacturers themselves.
