This is a conversation between two friends walking overlapping paths of present-day druidry. Both of us having been formally involved in Ar nDraioch Fein for a similar amount of time, Susan is the official Southwest regional druid in Ar nDraioch Fein & scribe of Raven’s Cry Grove, ADF— and on this episode I have the pleasure of asking about her own thoughts & experiences on her druidic path while sharing some of my own. We chatted about ritual crafting, the distinction between group ritual & personal practice, different reasons for approaching religion, formal study within paganism and more. In today’s episode of Occulture Wars, I go on an hour-long deeply fascinating tangent with Murtagh, who’s been called “Grandfather of Celtic Reconstruction,” an “American shaman,” a priest of the Morrigan— and I’m happy to call him my friend. In this conversation, we speak about some of Murtagh’s experience coming up in the early days of witchcraft and the modern pagan revival, some inside knowledge into how the Wheel of the Year model was actually created (not as mysterious as one might think), entering the realm of faery with and without acid and so much more.
