While I refer to this as an "aesthetics" episode on the show, that's not quite it. It's also not really about simps, I just have a horrible sense of humor. While I touch on aesthetic-related topics like the "depression aesthetic" (think tumblr) going too far, the fact that Timothee Chalamet strikes me more as an anemic teenager than a global sexpot and my thirstposting of Tom Hardy is not merely simping but cultural resistance (dad joke context here), this is actually not too deep an episode in my opinion. This is a fairly short, lighthearted rant that happens to include some calling out of the aesthetic-identity Munchausen's my generation has embraced with open arms. Oh, and I have a beret now. Ready to either chuckle, get mad or nod your head vigorously? Let's go. 

Inspired by my own short-lived foray into online dating sites and the cataclysmic realization of how bad it actually is out here, I discuss the results of hardcore fetish practices and concepts being normalized into not just "normie" dating and hookups-- but the fetishization of natural human desires, emotions and qualities into pornified caricatures, but also female self-presentation vis a vis "sex positivity." I dig into what bimbo play and "bimbofication" actually is in the context of BDSM, and how that differs from the mainstreaming of this fetish into an aesthetic/lifestyle identity. This has gone so far beyond whatever the "original intent" of sex positivity actually was, and I'm not about to bite my tongue on exactly what's wrong with this picture. Let's dig in.

Most of all, we emphasize the importance of the heretical, transgressive, no-fucks-given spirit in the practice of witchcraft, paganism and the occult.

Pat aka BikerVVitch and I had a blunt conversation where we discuss the cultivation of physical strength as a magickal/spiritual act, where we discuss exercise both as meditation and as a devotional act, as well as the social factors surrounding the perception of strength training/exercise in not only the "spiritual" communities but society at large. What's up with classifying working out as "right wing"? What's up with considering a sedentary lifestyle as "self care," considering any promotion of exercise as "stigma" against anyone else? Can you trust someone who's just repeating the same talking points they're pressured into agreeing with? This will be a weird one for everyone-- it's not a conversation your average occultist is used to, it's not a conversation your average person who lifts weights is used to-- but today, it's just another conversation on OP. I love this conversation with Pat and look forward to revisiting this topic in the future.
