EP 111 - Jon Sansone, Sell Like You’re Speed Dating
If you think of selling like speed dating, there are many conclusions one can draw about the parallels. Basically, the person on the other side of the table is evaluating you and trying to decide whether they can see you as part of their future. All the fast talk in the world won’t get you there, in fact, it’s more about how you come across as a person.
Currently, Jon Sansone works in professional consulting for a Fortune 100 company where he works with many high-net-worth clients and continues to set records specifically in the area of new client development.
Jon enjoys boating with family, and outdoor activities with friends he currently hosts an international Podcast on YouTube called, “School’s Out 80’s Comedy Channel,” and is also the author of the successful book Sales Warrior on Amazon.
WHAT YOU’LL LEARN:
- How Jon used the Dallas library for entertainment when he was young and broke and trying to come up
- How Jon feels like being in sales can be similar to playing a role in a rock band
- The parallels between selling and speed dating and how thinking in that way can help you bridge the gap
- Where Jon’s respect for others comes from and why he still refers to people as “sir” and “ma’am” when appropriate
- Why it helps to get people talking about themselves and how that makes them feel comfortable with you
- Why following up and following through is so important and why most people in sales are afraid of it
- Why confidently asking for someone’s business make a world of difference
- How it helps to handle each of your prospects differently and not use a one size fits all approach
FAVORITE QUOTE:
“When you’re face to face… the prospect is saying, ‘Do I think that individual is believable? Do I think they believe in what they’re saying?’ They’re drawing all these conclusions, so you talking fast isn’t of any benefit.”
CONNECT WITH JON
I have been professionally selling 34 years. I am an author, master class instructor, and motivational speaker and I host an international comedy podcast. I have personally read over 100 biographies. I am financially independent. I am from Missouri, but live in Texas. I am also a ricknroll historian.
I am very creative which made being a good speller difficult. I am also very analytical which hurt me in school until I got to high school and college. I was told I was an over thinker. It also increased anxiety as a child.
