In the early 70s when Punk was still a twinkle in Malcolm Mclaren's eye, a swashbuckling gang of bands were making a stirring racket in the Hope & Anchor, Islington and other North London pubs. Amongst them was a band named after its guitar player, Brinsley Schwartz. His school friend Nick Lowe wrote the music and sang. This week we pepper the show with some of his best songs, often written for others.
