What do you do when the very thing you wish wasn’t your story—becomes the one thing God keeps calling you to share?
In this episode of Loud About Loss, I’m talking about the part of my life I’ve wrestled with the most: grief being the centerpiece of my story. After losing my daughter Gracie, my podcast, my YouTube, and so much of what I create revolves around grief and child loss. And honestly? Sometimes I hate that. It’s heavy. People avoid it. And it makes me feel small, unseen, and unheard.
But here’s the truth—God doesn’t waste our pain. He weaves it into purpose. My story isn’t just about grief; it’s also about finding new joy after loss, reclaiming my identity in Christ, and choosing to live out loud instead of hiding.
🎙 In this episode, you’ll hear:
Why talking about grief still matters (even when people avoid it)
How silence can actually deepen depression and isolation
Where God shows up in the calling you didn’t want
The reminder that your story is bigger than your pain—it’s about joy too
If you’ve ever felt frustrated that grief is such a big part of your story, I get it. This conversation is your permission to wrestle with it and to trust that God is still writing more for you.

When you lose a child, everything you thought you knew about yourself suddenly feels… uncertain. Am I still a mom if my baby isn’t here? Who am I when the world looks at me differently? How do I live in a body and a life that no longer feel like mine?
These are the haunting questions so many bereaved mothers ask—but few ever say out loud.
In this episode of Loud About Loss, I share my own struggle with the identity crisis that followed losing my daughter Gracie, and how grief reshaped every part of how I saw myself. And while the world—and even our own inner voices—try to define us by our loss, the truth is something entirely different.
Piece by piece, through story and Scripture, we’ll uncover where your true identity is found. Spoiler alert: it’s not in your loss, your circumstances, or what others whisper about you. Your identity is secure in Christ Jesus—and it’s unshakable.
💛 In this episode you’ll discover:
Why grief makes you question who you are
How the world tries to label bereaved moms—and why it’s a lie
The surprising place your identity is actually anchored
Practical ways to live boldly in who Christ says you are
If you’ve ever wondered who you are now that your baby is gone, this episode will remind you: you are still a mother, you are still loved, and your story is far from over.

On August 2nd, my daughter Gracie should have turned 13. She was born with a congenital heart defect called hypoplastic left heart syndrome and lived just 82 days—but in that short time, she changed my life forever.
In this episode, I’m bringing you with me through the day we honored her birthday this year. From a quiet early-morning walk along the shore of Lake Superior, to baking her pink birthday cake filled with circus animal cookies, to our family tradition of tossing pink roses into the water at Artist’s Point in Grand Marais, Minnesota—this is how we remember and celebrate her every year.
If you’ve walked through child loss, the loss of a loved one, or are in the middle of a grief journey yourself, my hope is that this conversation reminds you of two things:
Healing doesn’t mean forgetting.
God is near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18).
You’ll hear about:
• Our family traditions for honoring a child after loss
• The balance of grief and joy on milestone days• Why I didn’t ask others to wear pink or post about it this year
• How faith has carried me through 13 birthdays without her
