This past Sunday, 18.7 million sets of eyes were on the women's NCAA Basketball National Championship game between the Iowa Hawkeyes and the South Carolina Gamecocks. 

But beyond the meteoric rise in the game’s popularity, there was another underlying story unfolding on the sidelines.
