Congratulations to Donald Segura, who was chosen to serve as King Sucrose of the 2018 Louisiana Sugar Cane Festival. Mr. Donald has been farming sugarcane since 1961. Along the way he's been a grocery store owner, school bus driver, politician and softball player. His sons do the bulk of the work these days but he'll get on the loader or cutter whenever he's needed. Hear Mr. Donald talk about his farming life and what sugarcane means to him and his community

Taylor Blanchard, a young sugarcane producer from the Iberia, St. Mary area, farms with his father, Lane Blanchard. Taylor spoke to a gathered group of farmers and researchers at the July 2018 LSU AgCenter Sugarcane Field Day. Taylor talked about the benefits of planting cover crops in sugarcane country.
