From small town life to instant stardom in a captivating performance on “The Voice” of the song “God Only Knows”, Jaukeem Fortson remains firm in his foundation of giving heavenly praise with every performance done from the heart. As shared by Jaukeem’s mother Lashanna Allen, Jaukeem was born with a God given talent, having started singing at the age of two. He is a boy who loves church, a place where, in a passion for the Lord, he has been able to express his faithfulness in song. Raised in the home with her mother and grandmother, Lashanna was taught the importance of praying and going to church, a gift she then passed along to her son. With seeds planted by his mother, Jaukeem has taken to writing daily scriptures on his walls. Having found himself launched from the little town of Elberton, GA to a world stage, Juakeem has not yet grasped the impact he has had on others through the beauty of his singing. With love for her son, Lashanna doesn’t need praise for her son’s accomplishment but is rather a mother who chooses to support her son in his interests, which is a love for church and a desire to one day teach, following in the footsteps of his mother who has remained a source of strength in Juakeem’s life. Doug Kennedy’s life is a testament to the truth that we all need the power of Jesus! At the age of 53, Doug experienced a mini stroke. After two months of therapy, a neurologist diagnosed Doug with Frontotemporal (Lobe) Dementia (LTD). His wife was his primary care giver, but after a repeat cycle of triggers that would set his recovery back, he was admitted to a nursing home for care. In the nursing home, he had episodes of panic attacks and passing out. He was wheelchair bound and on a diet of pureed foods. No longer able to cope, his wife decided to leave. Following her announcement, Doug had another “episode”, where in his sleep, he had three dreams – two about heaven, and one about how God was going to heal him. He vividly remembers a dream about seeing an "arm with a dragon tattoo”. But with behavior that was characterized as “difficult, Doug was later moved to another nursing home in an Alzheimer’s lockdown unit. One day, out of the blue, Doug received a call from someone he’d never before met asking if he and some friends could come pray for him. When the man who called and six of his friends came, they sang praises to the Lord, read healing scriptures, poured oil over his head, and placed a prayer shawl over him. During their prayer, Doug heard the voice of the Lord in his head and heart, with the words, “You are HEALED!" He felt something happen and found himself running around celebrating. Coming back to the group who prayed for him, he saw that one of the ladies in the group who prayed had a dragon tattoo on her arm.
