Love Legacies

Wow! What a loaded question. But is it really? Many people have more than one mother. Navigating these relationships is a matter of being open and intentional. Mother’s Day is hard and may seem impossible for some who have lost their mothers. This episode is an opportunity

to reflect and be encouraged to build love legacies now. Many prayers for those that can’t quite place their emotions.

My prayer is that you are encouraged knowing that you are not alone.

As a little girl, I always remember being encouraged to read, explore, think outside of the box, imagine, and investigate. My Aunt was like many in education; making sure that others would fair better than she had. She set out to change the way children experienced education because of a traumatic encounter due to the lack of education. And boy, oh boy, did she ever! What legacy of knowing are you leaving your loved ones?

This day will prove difficult for many. It may bring up many thoughts, feelings and for some even tears.  I encourage you to be thankful for your ‘haves’ and give and receive grace for you ‘have nots’.  There is a blessing in it all! Happy Thanksgiving!

Many of us grew up with the tradition of having Godmothers or Godparents.  The people that our parents trusted to guide us, protect us, support us and love us.  Family is not just blood relationships it’s also intentional, nurtured relationships.  Listen as two godsisters talk about the blessing of a phenomenal godmother and the impact they still feel today! 

Monnie, Granny, Granna, Aunt, etc were the names which they answered to with joy and pride.  There is nothing better than the hands, words, and love of a Grandmother or a Grand Aunt.  They paid the blessings forward and we are still reaping the bounty generations later.  The grandchildren speak about what it means to be a Williams Descendent.

It takes One to know One!  This phrase is not just a childhood 'quip back'! True friends are hard to find, but some of us learn the legacy of good friendships from our mothers and the examples of friendship they modeled. This includes the ones they had with us!
