Detective Heidi Chance recently retired after serving 25 years with Phoenix Police Department. She spent 13 years as an undercover detective in the H.E.A.T (Human Exploitation and Trafficking) Unit.  In this unit, she conducted investigations targeting sex buyers and traffickers. She has also trained many officers in undercover schools and has presented on Sex Trafficking cases she’s worked across the United States sharing her experience.

New episode of Love&BLoved Podcast!  My guest says: “The outcome of the person who is effected by modern slavery  is the most important thing for us. It’s a human rights based approach.” Joining me today is Enrique Restoy, he is currently Director: International Programmes at Hope for Justice, which works globally to end modern slavery.

He has held senior positions in Frontline AIDS, Anti-Slavery International and the Coalition to Stop the Use of Child Soldiers, and as a Researcher for West Africa in Amnesty International. Enrique is the author of numerous academic and policy publications on human trafficking, human rights and gender research and programming in Africa, Latin America and the Middle East. These include the worst forms of child labour and the involvement of children in armed conflict. Enrique holds a PhD in International Relations from the University of Sussex, where he is a Research Associate and a member of the Impact Advisory Board of the School of Global Studies.

On today’s episode Enrique is going to share:

1. Why is HT a human rights issue? 
2. How different are really human trafficking and 'traditional' slavery?
3. What is the relationship between HT and other key issues in the world such as economic development and financial crisis, wars and refugees.

Mrs. Butler is working to end the supply of vulnerable individuals, preyed upon by traffickers, and to abolish modern-day slavery. Tammy is a national and international speaker on human trafficking and trauma-informed, trauma-responsive care. As a survivor of sex trafficking, Tammy's lived experience, coupled with her experience as a forensic nurse examiner, brings a relatable and expert perspective to this human rights atrocity. Tammy is also the founder of A&K Ranch Ministries, LLC; and a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization called Reflective Spaces Ministry, Corp. that is dedicated to direct survivor support and victim services.

Joining me today is Dr. Francine  Bono-Neri. She as over 30 years of experience working with the pediatric population as a registered nurse and pediatric nurse practitioner. She currently serves as an academic nurse educator, health policy advocate, and leader of numerous professional organizations. Francine served as a Director-at-Large on the BOD for ANA-NY, is the immediate past-president of the Long Island Chapter of the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP), and is the co-founder and president of Nurses United Against Human Trafficking, PA.  Her hopes are to raise awareness and increase knowledge of Human Trafficking to all nurses, with her goal of starting robust education on this topic beginning in undergraduate studies.

On today’s episode Dr. Francine Bono-Neriis is going to share:

1) Raising awareness in the public about the pervasive nature of human trafficking.
2) Discussing NUAHT, empowering with resources and education.
3) Dissemination, prevalence, receptiveness and lack of awareness obstruct anti-trafficking efforts.

Happy New 2023 Year!!! We wish you good health and prosperity May God bless you and your beautiful families with love, peace, and joy. Do you pick your intention or choose the word for this year? Previous years for me was ‘Transformation’ and ‘Evolving’, and man it was good! This year it’s ‘Freedom’. What does come to your mind when you hear this word? Freedom from fear, perhaps?  Financial freedom? Maybe it’s a time freedom or freedom from limited beliefs. But then this word means a lot to me in another context. I was a prisoner, kidnaped and trafficked into foreign countries and I was sold into slavery.

Christ rescued me and saved my life, and today I fight for freedom alongside of an amazing people and organizations who chosen life purpose to rescue oppressed, enslaved, and trafficked, supporting survivors and fighting against injustice. January is dedicated to raising awareness about human trafficking. It’s a key time for us all as individuals to educate ourselves about this crime and crucially to learn to spot the red flags.

This month you will hear an inspirational survivors’ stories of someone who’s voices creating awareness and helping others to move forward by sharing their stories and you will hear from the experts as well. Through this podcast we empower you to study this issue be a voice and make a difference in ending human trafficking. If you know me, you know why I am passionate about this topic if you don’t know me here is my story in this episode.

My guest says: “Sexual Exploitation Education is proud to introduce the very first prevention education app, called the SEE-App!” Joining me today is Tiana Sharifi.

Tiana's prevention programs are the first in Canada to address this topic by focusing specifically on the root issues versus simply providing basic awareness and knowledge. Her student presentations have been strategically developed for a real shift in perspective in youth, alongside providing tools to address issues like consent, healthy boundaries, and grooming- both online and in person.
