Welcome to episode 21 of the Lovecars On The Grid podcast! We have an action packed week to roundup with our hosts, Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman, from Formula 1, Formula E, NASCAR, Superbikes and even drama in the Caterham Academy Championship!
Kicking off with Formula 1, why we have the spy scandal between Red Bull and Aston Martin! With employees leaving Red Bull for Aston Martin, is information being taken too? Lewis Hamilton had a poor start in Barcelona, with Haas driver Kevin Magnussen involved in a collision with the Mercedes driver. Followed by Carlos Sainz coming off the track into the gravel trap in his Ferrari. What followed was an exciting race, with intense battles between Segio Perez and George Russell. Max Verstappen also had a brief spin off the track, leaving Charles LeClerc to lead the race in his Ferrari. LeClerc had a problem later in the race with his engine blowing up, and ended up retiring. The new Mercedes body modifications seemed to work though, with Russell finishing the race in 3rd, with Verstappen and Perez ahead of him.
In Formula 2, Felipe Drugovich took the win for MP Motorsport in both the Sprint race and the Feature race. He now leads the championship.
In the supporting W Series race, we had a 1,2,3 British podium, with a win for Jamie Chadwick, Abbi Pulling and Alice Powell.
Both Sebs had a crash in WRC out in Portugal. The gravel rally was won by Toyota GR's Kalle Rovanperä from Finland, with Elfyn Evans hot on his heels. The WRC goes off to Italy next! There was no Moto GP this week, but the World Superbikes were at Estoril. The battle between Jonathan Rea and Toprak Razgatlıoğlu continues as Rea takes 2 wins, with Toprak hot on his heels.
The British Superbikes were at Donington Park, with some awful crashes. We had bikes splitting into multiple pieces, and a rider even in hospital. Thankfully Josh Day is awake and eating again, we wish him a speedy recovery. NASCAR was a pretty spectacular event, with $1 million for the Winner in Texas. There were more crashes and slow punctures for the drivers. The win went to Ryan Blaney in his Ford, with Denny Hamlin behind him in 2nd place.
Tiff stayed up until midnight to watch the Indycar drivers at Indianapolis. We had crashes at 230MPH, with an average speed of 234.046MPH! Unbelievable! The win went to Scott Dixon, and Alex Palou in 2nd.
Our resident driver, Paul Woodman was driving his Caterham Roadsport car at Snetterton with the Caterham Academy Championship this weekend. We had races being won by 0.05 of a second, and over 30 drivers on the grid! In the first race, Paul managed a 7th place, following an 11th place qualifying. Geoff Newman, Charlie Lower and Freddie Chiddicks all manage their usual performances with great driving.
In the second race however, there was carnage at the start! Following an amazing start, Paul was squeezed by the two cars in front of him. He tried to go around the outside, but unfortunately was taken out by another car, leading to a red flag. Straight after the restart, we had a driver roll his car, forcing another red flag! Thankfully, the driver is ok.
We don't know where to start this weekend, but we have a major Formula 1 race in Monaco. Now that Mercedes have got rid of their porpoising, will they do better in qualifying? We also have the Indianapolis 500, plus Moto GP at Mugello, BTCC at Thruxton and British GT at Donington Park! Over in America, we have the NASCAR at Charlotte.
Welcome to episode 20 of the Lovecars On The Grid Podcast. Our two presenters, Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman are back with another roundup of motorsport events from the past week!
This week, we have the Monaco Historic Grand Prix, Moto GP, Indycar, Formula E, BTCC and NASCAR!
Tiff joins us from Nice airport after being in Monaco! We kick off with the Grand Prix Historique in Monaco, with cars from all eras, where Tiff got to meet Red Bull driver, Max Verstappen and Ferrari driver, Charles LeClerc!
Formula E took place in Berlin this weekend, with a win for Nick De Vries in the Mercedes-EQ Formula E team, with 2nd place going to Rokit Venturi Racing's Edoardo Mortara.
Moto GP was at the Bugatti Circuit of Le Mans for their Grand Prix De France, where leaders of both the Moto GP and Moto2 race crashed out. The win in the Moto GP went to Fabio Quartararo on the Yamaha, with a win for Celestino Vietti in Moto2.
The BTCC were racing at Brands Hatch with all sorts of different weather! Josh Cooke won with Honda after some clever tyre changes.
The rain and chaos continued in Indycar, at the GMR Grand Prix at the Indianopolis Motor Speedway. Teams weren't sure what tyre compound to go for with the different weathers, but the win went to Colton Herta.
NASCAR was a battle between Kurt Busch in the Toyota and Kyle Larson in the Chevrolet, with Busch just beating Larson to the Win at the Kansas Speedway.
Welcome to episode 19 of the Lovecars on the Grid podcast!
Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman return with another roundup of motorsport events from the past week. Unfortunately, our audio isn't quite as good as last week, as Tiff joins us on his mobile phone. Apologies for any inconvenience to our listeners!
This week we have F1, W Series, British GT, Touring Cars and NASCAR! Kicking off in Miami with Formula 1! The event was very well hyped, with even a fake marina and boats on show! Red Bull driver, Max Verstappen performed a trademark, bold move on the first corner, and took the race win. Mercedes had a disappointing race, finishing in 5th and 6th with lots of porpoising going on.
The W Series was supporting the F1 in Miami. It was a perfect win for Jamie Chadwick, with 2 wins this weekend. Last year's Winner, Alice Powell ended up stalling on the grid and finishing in 6th place.
The World Endurance Championship was at Spa Francorchamps in Belgium. It was typically Spa weather, with lots of rain. The #7 Toyota was victorious, driven by Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi and Jose Maria Lopez, beating Alpine in 2nd place.
The World Touring Cars started their season with a reverse grid at the Circuit de Pau Ville. The win went to Argentine driver, Nestor Girolami.
British GT was taking place at Silverstone, with a win for Barwell Motorsport in their Lamborghini Huracan GT3 EVO.
NASCAR was at the famous old oval, Darlington. We had a very controversial ending, with some questionable driving for Winner Joey Logano, who drove into William Byron and put the leader into the wall.
This weekend, we have Indycar at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. IMSA are at the mid-Ohio course. Moto GP is back at the Le Mans Bugatti circuit in France. Formula E has a double header in Berlin and then in Britain we have the British Touring Car Championship at Brands Hatch!
Welcome to episode 18 of the Lovecars on the grid podcast!
Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman bring us another roundup of motorsport events from the past week! We have proper microphones this week!
You join the duo this week in America, as we film at the Triple F Collection, with some incredible cars behind Tiff and Paul, including a La Ferrari!
We pay tribute to begin with to Ayrton Senna. On this day in 1980, a young Tiff Needell qualified for the Belgian Grand prix, sharing the back row with Emerson Fittipaldi!
Moto GP took place at the Circuito de Jerez in Spain, with a win for Ducati rider, Francesco Bagnaia, ahead of championship leader, Fabio Quartararo, who finished in second on his Yamaha. In Moto2, Japanese rider, Ai Ogura won on his Honda, whilst in Moto3, Spanish rider Izan Guevara took the win on his Gas Gas.
The DTM cars were at Portimao, with wins for both Audi and Mercedes. Rally driver, Sebastian Loeb was driving a Ferrari, rising to 16th and 18th during the races.
Formula E were at Monaco, with Mitch Evans on pole in his Jaguar. Evans couldn't continue at the same pace with his energy plan, resulting in Mercedes driver, Stoffel Vandoorne winning the E-prix in Monaco. Evans did manage a 2nd place though!
Brands Hatch had one of the biggest crowds ever for the GT cars. The Doctor, Valentino Rossi was driving one of the GT3 cars, scoring his first points this weekend in his Audi.
With it being a bank holiday in the UK this weekend, the British Superbikes at Oulton Park are still taking place! Indycar was a race all about strategy at the Grand Prix of Alabama. There were cars stopping for fuel, whereas other cars were going for longer stints, making for an epic race! Rinus VeeKay managed to get pole position in qualifying, but had a slow out lap due to having cold tyres, leaving the win to Pato O'Ward, with Veekay finishing 3rd place. Ex Formula 1 star, Romain Grosjean caused a bit of trouble with some wheel banging during overtakes.
The IMSA Sports cars were at the Laguna Seca Circuit. Acura managed a 1, 2 finish, with the Brits Oliver Jarvis and Tom Blomqvist bringing home the second place.
NASCAR was supposed to be racing in Dover, but was postponed due to poor weather. They are in fact racing today! Who will win? In other news, Porsche and Audi have announced that they will be entering Formula 1! Sadly, this doesn't mean that there will 4 new cars on the grid. Instead, Porsche will partner up with Red Bull, whilst Audi is expected to partner with the Sauber Alfa Romeo team.
Next week, we have a new Formula 1 circuit, at the Miami Grand Prix! With lots of overtaking opportunities, it's set to be an exciting race! At Spa in Belgium we have the LMP2 cars. The British GT Championship comes to Silverstone, then we have NASCAR at Darlington Raceway!
Welcome to episode 17 of the Lovecars on the Grid podcast! Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman bring us the news on the motorsport events from around the World, and this week has been a busy one!
We kick off with the dramatic events of Formula 1. We had a Ferrari meltdown at Imola, disappointing the Tifosi after Sainz crashing out in qualifying after a clash with Daniel Ricciardo. Charles LeClerc put his Ferrari into a wall when trying to go for the fastest lap. The Red Bull cars of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez came through, with Verstappen winning the race. 3rd and 4th wen to two British drivers, Lando Norris and George Russell.
The support races were dramatic, with a win for Théo Pourchaire in F2, and Roman Stanek in Formula 3. We apologise again to Jonny Edgar for forgetting his name last week and we hope he gets well soon.
We had a dramatic weekend in BTCC too, with overtakes involving 3 or 4 cars wide at Donington Park. We also had the Porsches, Ginettas and Minis racing. The highlight of the BTCC for us was Jake Hill, who finished 3rd in the first race, but got thrown out for ride height infringement and put to the back of the grid. He ended up winning the race!
Even more drama in the NASCAR race at the Talladega Superspeedway. With the 200MPH back straight, we were expecting lots of incidents. There was just the one crash on the back straight, where cars were four a breadth, causing a massive crash with up to 20 cars off the track as a result. The lead changed 29 times in the last lap, with Kyle Larsson against Erik Jones.
We had both World Superbikes and Moto GP this weekend. The Superbikes were at their Dutch round. In the final race, Razgatlioglu and Rea clashed and took each other off the track.
Moto GP was very dramatic at the Algarve International Circuit in Portugal. Fabio Quartararo was triumphant on his Yamaha. There was turn 1 drama, with riders out braking each other and taking each other out. The biggest drama on the bikes was in Moto 2, where riders had to flee safety after Zonta Van Den Goorbergh's bike went up in flames. No less than 15 bikes all went down in the same corner, thanks to some rain on the track.
Jake Dixon was on pole for the restart, with 7 laps to go. Unfortunately, the drama continued, where he lost his front wheel and lost the pole position with a crash. The most dramatic event of the weekend was at World Rally Championship in Croatia. With poor weather, we had a lot of punctures from the gravel and rocks. We started off with drama, with crashes and punctures from the beginning of the race. We had plenty of crashes, and even flames from Oliver Solberg's car.
The drama came down to the last two stages, as Kalle Rovanpera's Toyota was on track for the comfortable win. In the penultimate, 19th stage, we had torrential rain! Rovanpera's ended up losing the lead to Hyundai's Ott Tanak. In the final stage however, Rovanpera managed to claw the win back, a great battle between the two drivers.
Next week, we'll be doing this podcast from America! There's no Formula 1, but we have Indycar in Alabama. IMSA Sports cars at Laguna Seca. We have Moto GP at Barcelona, NASCAR and Formula E in Monaco and we have the Superbikes at Oulton Park!
Welcome to another episode of the Lovecars On The Grid Podcast!

We have the European Le Mans Series around Circuit Paul Ricard in France. With the LMP2 cars. Sophia Flörsch came second overall. In NASCAR, the cars were at the Bristol oval, driving in the dirt! There was lots of cars spinning, resulting in yellow flags on the track.
The last 30 laps was chaos! There was a last lap, last corner battle, which the win eventually went to Toyota driver, Kyle Busch.
British GT was at Oulton Park with some excitement from the Lamborghini's, Porsches and McLaren GT cars.
The British Superbikes started their season at Silverstone too. We pay tribute to Speedway star, Nigel Pearson. May he rest in peace and our thoughts are with his family and friends.
Next week, we have a lot to look forward to! Formula 1 goes to Imola, who will win this time? Will Ferrari continue their Winning streak? WRC are going to Croatia for their rally for the first time. BTCC are at Donington Park. Moto GP are also at Portiamo. Superbikes are at Assen, and NASCAR are at the Talladega Superspeedway.
A whole day's television to look forward to on Sunday! It's a sad story in Formula 3, where Jonny Edgar has had to withdraw. Our apologies to Jonny for forgetting his name! And get well soon!
Welcome to Episode 15 of the Lovecars On The Grid podcast!
Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman are back with another roundup of motorsport events from the past week. Our presenters join us from a Starbucks car park, following a day for filming for our upcoming TV show!
Nonetheless, we have an action packed agenda for this week, with Formula 1 in Australia, Indycar, Formula E in Rome, Moto GP at the Circuit of Americas, plus a big fight in NASCAR!
Firstly, we kick off with big news. Our very own Paul Woodman was racing in the Caterham Roadsport Champioship at Brands Hatch this weekend, and managed to come home with a 3rd place! Yes, our long awaited podium has finally come!
Tiff was also racing at the Goodwood Members Meeting in a Ford Capri, rising through the places from 15th to 7th! Formula 1 took place in Melbourne, Australia this weekend. Reigning Champion, Max Verstappen broke down in his Red Bull, handing the win to Ferrari driver Charles LeClerc. His team mate, Carlos Sainz also had trouble with his car. The other Red Bull driver, Sergio Perez managed to bring his car home in 2nd, whilst the Mercedes drivers of George Russell and Lewis Hamilton managed to take 3rd and 4th places.
Indycar had a great weekend, with the IMSA World Sports Cars on the Sunday and the single seater on the Sunday. Cadillac took the 1st and 2nd places. In Formula E, Jaguar had a great weekend in Rome, with a win for New Zealand driver, Mitch Evans.
Moto GP had a second win for Italian rider, Enea Bastianini at the Circuit of Americas, with lots of top runners being either taken out by other riders or crashing out all together! Thankfully, there we no injuries. It was good to see Marc Marquez back following his high sider accident two races ago.
On the Superbikes, Turkish rider, Toprak Razgatlıoğlu was fighting against British rider Jonathan Rea and Spanish rider, Alvaro Bautista for the win, which Bautista managed to take from the other two riders.
NASCAR took place at the Martinsville Speedway, in Virginia, where the biggest event of the race was a fight between drivers Ty Gibbs and Sam Mayer, where drivers were fined $15,000 for the punchup. William Byron ended up winning the race in his Chevrolet.
Next weekend, we have a quiet weekend, with NASCAR in Tennessee. Some GT4 racing at Oulton Park. British Superbikes also kick off at Silverstone.
This week Paul and Tiff are joined by W series star and Italian GP cup racing driver Vicky Piria, from an exotic location somewhere in Switzerland!
Vicky predicts who’s going to win the Melbourne Grand Prix with her home country and Ferrari leading the way a second place to Red Bull racing and a third place to Mercedes AMG which drivers she’s chosen?
The doctor Valentino Rossi swaps two wheels for four wheels and had an unusual situation with his pitstop.
On two wheels there was plenty of MotoGP action in Argentina and then we head to the USA for the NASCAR round up.
Who will be victorious Albert park? Will it be Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen, Charles Leclerc, or will another driver make the podium?
Welcome to another episode of the Lovecars On The Grid podcast! Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman bring us another roundup of the motorsport events from the past week.
Paul joins us from an airport lounge yet again, but there's lots to discuss this week. From Formula 1, F2, NASCAR and more! We kick off with Formula 1, which took place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia this time. Following a missile attack on a fuel depot less than 10 miles from the track, should F1 continue to take place in Jeddah?
Mick Schumacher started off with a crash in qualifying, which led to him sitting out of the race on Sunday. Sergio Perez put his Red Bull in pole position, ahead of Max Verstappen in 4th, with the two Ferraris of Charles LeClerc and Carlos Sainz between them.
Yet again, Nicholas Latifi saved Max Verstappen, crashing and causing a safety car in the closing laps of the race. Assisting the Red Bull in closing the gap between him and leader Charles LeClerc. The Ferrari had some clever tactics with the DRS zones, but Verstappen still managed to overtake LeClerc and took the win in Saudi Arabia. Lewis Hamilton finished in 10th place, following some interesting strategy decisions!
There was no F3 this week, but in F2, the feature race was won by Felipe Drugovich and Liam Lawson won the sprint race.
The NASCAR drivers were at the Circuit of Americas. With no track limits, there was a very exciting finish with a fight between Alex Bowman and Ross Chastain in the two Chevrolets. In the final lap, Chastain managed to put another driver into his rival, winning his first ever NASCAR race.
Next week, we have more NASCAR and Moto GP as Paul and Tiff return from Italy!
The 2022 season of Formula 1 begins! We have F2, F3 and plenty more for Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman to give you a motorsport roundup of this week, including IMSA 12H Sebring, Indycar and NASCAR!
We kick off with Formula 1, which begun in Bahrain this weekend. Tiff's predictions of a Ferrari 1-2 were correct, as Charles LeClerc brought his red Ferrari home in 1st place, with team mate Carlos Sainz in 2nd.
We had some strong qualifying from returning Haas driver, Kevin Magnussen and Valterri Bottas in his Alfa Romeo. During the race, following the performance from last season, race favourite Max Verstappen suffered from reliability problems, leading to both his and team mates Perez' retirement. Elsewhere, the Mercedes team with Hamilton and Russell suffered with porpoising problems, leading to a 3rd place for Hamilton, and Russell in 4th place.
The FIA have announced new regulations, tightening restrictions on track limits and overtaking to prevent a repeat of last season. They also admitted that human error was the reason for the debacle in Abu Dhabi.
A great story for Kevin Magnussen and Haas in Bahrain too, achieving their first points in the championship with Magnussen finishing in 5th place! There was plenty of Formula 2 and Formula 3 action too, with lots of overtaking in the same weekend! Saudi Arabia in the next round!
Moto GP was in Indonesia for the first time, with presenter Suzi Perry there. There was a huge crash from a high sider with Marc Marquez, who thankfully walked away without injury. Portuguese rider, Miguel Oliveira ended up taking the win.
In the USA, we had four major races this weekend. With the Sebring 12H race for the WEC. With a collision and a spin with just an hour left remaining, the race was won by Chip Ganassi Racing’s #02 car.
Indycar was at the Texas oval, travelling at terrifying speeds of up to 221MPH, with some big shunts, but the win went to Josef Newgarden. NASCAR took place at Atlanta, where cars could be just two wide around the track. We had a few shunts, leading to Kyle Larson spinning out, but his team mate, William Byron took the win.
Next week, we have Formula 1 in Saudi Arabia. There is F2 but no F3 there this weekend. NASCAR goes to the Circuit of the Americas.
Do we have a new rivalry in Formula 1? What are your predictions for Saudi Arabia, let us know in the comments!
