  • $600 Million to join F1? Bahrain testing, Formula E, NASCAR, WSB, & more. On the Grid Motorsport Podcast

Welcome to the On Grid Podcast, with our hosts, Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman.

This week, Formula 1 is back with testing in Formula 1. We had a thrilling finish in Formula E in Cape Town, plus Superbikes in Australia, NASCAR in Fontana and more!  Firstly, we pay our respects to Musician and Formula 1 driver, Slim Borgudd, who was the drummer for Abba, too!

In Formula 1 news, Haas have reduced the number of seats on their pitwall, saving a whopping $250,000! Elsewhere, F1 teams are now expecting £60 million per team for a new team to join the sport. Rumours also suggest that Red Bull maybe selling the Alpha Tauri team.

We've seen F1 testing in Bahrain, but which do you think is the best looking livery on the new cars?

In Cape Town, South Africa, we had an exciting Formula E race.

The other big race was in World Superbikes, at Phillip Island in Australia.

Over the pond in Fontana, we had NASCAR.

  • 2023 F1 car liveries. Motorsport news. FIA rulings. NASCAR Daytona 500 and much more!

Welcome to episode 8 of the Lovecars on the Grid Podcast, where our presenters, Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman, bring us a roundup of motorsport events!

This week, we have the new Formula 1 car launches for the 2023 season, plus more controversy from the FIA as always, plus NASCAR and more!

We kick off as always with Formula 1, as we see a common theme across all the new team liveries. Teams have been releasing a lot more black cars to reduce weight from paint even further, so that they can add parts elsewhere on the car. Which is your favourite new livery?

The new cars will be out on track in Bahrain for testing this week. With 6 new driver pairings, who will be fastest?

The latest embarrassment from the FIA is a new rule that has been introduced, forbidding drivers to express their political beliefs on the track or the stadium without prior written permission from the FIA. This includes Lewis Hamilton's rainbow helmet!

Who else stayed up until 1:30AM for NASCAR and the Daytona 500? With over half the race with no incidents, the second half resulted in a number of spectacular crashes! We came to the final lap following yet another accident. Ricky Stenhouse took the win in his Chevrolet, following by Joe Logano for Ford and Christopher Bell in 3rd place in his Toyota.

The single seater, Formula Four UAE had their finale at Yas Marina. As did the Formula Regional Middle East. These drivers will be the future drivers in Formula 1!

Next week, we have Formula 1 testing in Bahrain, Formula E heads to Cape Town in South Africa and the World Superbike Championship kicks off at Phillip Island in Australia. NASCAR is back in Fontana, California.

  • On The Grid. Formula 1 news, Formula E, WRC & more!

Welcome to the Lovecars On The Grid Podcast, where our presenters, Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman bring us a motorsport roundup from the past week!

We have WRC, Formula E and single seater updates this week! But of course, we start with Formula 1 news, where FIA president, Mohammed Ben Sulayem has announced that he will not get as involved in Formula 1. The announcement comes after the FIA President caused more controversy over his sexism comments.

Max Verstappen will appear in the upcoming Netflix series, Drive To Survive. The Formula 1 World Champion has stated that he has given Netflix a 30 minute interview on last season.

In Women's Motorsport, British driver, Katherine Legge has been announced to be driving at the Indy 500 this year.  At the Formula E in India, a new motorsport Championship has been launched for 2024, named ACE Championship.

We had a really good rally in the WRC in Sweden, where we had snow and ice. Ott Tänak won the rally in his M-Sport Ford, taking the lead in the final stage from Craig Breen, a now Hyundai driver that used to drive for the Ford team.

Formula E were racing in Hyderabad in India. After blocking his fellow drivers, DS Penske's Jean-Eric Vergne brought home the win, beating Envision Racing driver Nick Cassidy in 2nd, and TAG Heuer Porsche's Antonio Felix da Costa who was given 3rd place, following a penalty to Sebastian Buemi.

In UK Motorsport, there's a proposal to penalise drivers by 1 second instantly if they put a half a tyre off the track. This would be a UK law for all motorsport taking place in the UK. Furthermore, drivers are not allowed to protest the decision.

The Formula Four and Formula Regional Middle East were in Dubai this weekend, with Ferrari academy driver, Tuukka Taponen, appearing to be a shining light in this series. In Formula Regional Middle East, Mercedes academy driver, Andrea Kimi Antonelli took his win and look to be the favourite to win the season.

In New Zealand, we had the Formula Regional Oceana, where Austrian driver, Charlie Wurz took the Championship win.  Coming up next week, we have the Daytona 500, the Formula Four and Formula Regional have their finales in Abu Dhabi.

  • New teams in F1. Ford and Redbull. NASCAR, Bathurst 12H & More! On the Grid

Welcome to Lovecars On The Grid, where Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman bring us a roundup of motorsport events from the past week!

This week, we have a lot to talk about! From the Deserts of Kuwait to the race tracks of Australia!  We kick off with F1, Red Bull have announced that they will be partnering with Ford for the 2026, in a huge launch in New York. Ford will be alongside 5 other engine manufacturers that have signed up to the 2026 season.

The FIA are also looking for 2 new teams, detailing the steps to join the sport to those interested.

We pay tribute to Jean-Pierre Jabouille, a Formula 1 driver that won races in the 1970s. The French driver sadly lost his life this week and our thoughts are with his family and friends.

The NASCAR season continues this week too, kicking off at the L.A. Coliseum, which was arguably too small a track for the race! The race was won by Toyota's Martin Truex Jr, followed by Austin Dillon and Kyle Busch in 2nd and 3rd place.

The Bathurst 12HR raced took place overnight, with a lot of shunts and even an oil leak in an exciting race. Motorcycle star, Valentino Rossi made his debut into the race, with his team finishing 4th and 6th place. Jules Gounon won the race, with team SunEnergy1 Racing.

The Formula 4 UAE and the Formula Middle East were in Kuwait, where the drivers are as young as 15 years old!   Elsewhere in single seater racing, the Formula Regional Oceana were in New Zealand!

Next weekend, WRC is coming back to Sweden, whilst Formula E is in India, from a brand new circuit!
