Welcome to our 50th episode of the Lovecars on the Grid podcast with Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman!

Today, our hosts cover F1 news, WEC, Formula E and more! Starting with Formula 1, Tiff is upset with Ross Brawn, following an interview where he praised Formula 1 owners Liberty Media, staying that they have the right balance between the product they are delivering and what the fans want to see. Is Formula 1 alienating it's core fan base? What do you think? Let us know in the comments!

In other F1 news, Mick Schumacher has signed to Mercedes as their reserve driver. There's also rumours of Ford sponsoring Red Bull's engines in future. We also have a new Ferrari Team Principle, Fred Vasseur. The Frenchman comes from being Alfa Romeo boss and Sauber Motorsport CEO. Vasseur is to be replaced by Andreas Seidl, who was CEO of McLaren. McLaren then get Andrea Stella who has been promoted from within the company.

The new gen. 3 cars have arrived for Formula E, as the teams have begun testing in Valencia. There's lots of new technology, plus Hankook being the new tyre supplier. The new cars have no rear brakes, and rely on regeneration braking, where cars have to regenerate 40% of their power to get to the finish line! Formula E have also dropped the fan boost, and are looking to introduce a pit stop recharge! The racing starts in Mexico on 14th January.

We won't be back now until the New Year, where Paul will be live from Dakar!

Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman bring us a roundup of motorsport action from around the World!

This week, we have both Extreme E and WTCC to talk about, but we kick off with wishing a very happy birthday for fellow car lover, Shivam from Shivam reviews!

We have fresh Formula 1 gossip, following a claim that Sergio Perez is leaving Redbull now that the team have signed Daniel Ricciardo and following the apparent deliberate crash at the Monaco Grand Prix earlier this year.

Elsewhere at Ferrari, there is speculation that Mattia Binotto is either being sacked or resigning, following some poor strategic decisions this year in the Scuderia Ferrari F1 team.

There's also some fuss over the possibility of fitting mud flaps to Formula 1 cars next season, to reduce the spray in the wet weather and improve visibility for the drivers.

We did have some racing this weekend, the first of which being Extreme E, with their Energy X-Prix in Uruguay, highlighting sustainable mining. We had so many spectacular crashes!

  • Best F1 race of the season? More Red Bull controversy. Tiff Needell on Top Gear! WEC, WRC & more

Welcome to this week's episode of the Lovecars On The Grid Podcast! Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman are here to bring us another roundup of motorsport events from the past week.

We've had an exciting weekend, with Formula 1, World Endurance Championships, WRC and British Superbikes!  But first, we pay our respects to Simon Arron, a motorsport journalist who sadly passed away last week.

Formula 1 was in Sao Paolo, Brazil this week, with a fantastic story for Mercedes driver and Winner, George Russell who took his first Grand Prix Win this weekend. The weekend was full of firsts as Haas driver, Kevin Magnussen took pole position in qualifying.

We had many controversies during the race too. Starting with the incident between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen during the race restart. Who was at fault? We had controversy between Esteban Ocon and Fernando Alonso. The Alpine team told Ocon to allow Alonso to overtake as Alonso was on fresher tyres. Ocon refused to do so as he was trying to overtake Sebastian Vettel in the Aston Martin. Let's not forget the Red Bull team incident, where Verstappen wouldn't allow Perez past despite another team order!

We have the final race of 2022 coming up in Abu Dhabi. It's already clear who the Winner of the driver's championship is, but who will come 2nd?

Tiff finally spills the beans where he was filming last week, as he was filming an item with BBC's Top Gear, with Chris Harris, Paddy McGuinness and Freddy Flintoff!

The final round of the World Endurance Championship took place in Bahrain this weekend. The Championship concluded with a final Toyota 1-2 win, with Alpine behind them in 3rd, just 2 laps behind the leaders.

We had a dramatic rally in Japan for WRC, with a win for Hyundai on the tarmac with Thierry Neuville and Martijn Wydaeghe.

Indonesia saw the penultimate round of the World Superbikes. Alvaro Bautista took three wins and the overall Championship win with a round to spare, with Turkish rider, Toprak Razgatlioglu taking 2nd and British rider, Jonathan Rea in 3rd place.

Next weekend, we have the Phillip Island round of the World Superbikes, plus the final round of Formula 1 in Abu Dhabi.

Welcome to episode 44 of the Lovecars On The Grid pocast!

Our hosts, Paul Woodman and Tiff Needell bring us another motorsport roundup from the past week.

This week, we have two new World Champions! But we start with paying our respect to Coy Gibbs, the executive for Joe Gibbs racing, who sadly passed away this weekend. His death was less than a day after his Son won the Xfinity Series Championship.

In Formula 1, Christian Horner is in the news again, claiming that there was a leak from Red Bull to the FIA. We've had lots of PR from Formula 1 drivers out in Las Vegas for the race in Nevada next year.

Elsewhere, there's a debate with Pirelli over whether tyre blankets should be continued. Pirelli have said that first laps out of the pits will be slower, but other race series don't use tyre blankets, so are they needed in Formula 1?

The Moto GP riders were out in Valencia this weekend, with a win for Suzuki rider, Alex Rins, in Suzuki's last ever race in Moto GP. The Championship win went to Francesco Bagnaia, taking the title from Francesco Bagnaia.

In Moto2, Spanish rider, Pedro Acosta took the win and became rookie Champion of the year, with the overall Championship going to fellow Spanish rider, Augusto Fernandez.

  • F1 in Mexico. Red Bull cheating saga. Best overtake ever in NASCAR? On the Grid podcast!

Welcome to episode 43 of the Lovecars On The Grid podcast. Our hosts Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman bring us another motorsport roundup!

This week, we had Formula 1 in Mexico, drama in NASCAR, and we had Tiff's birthday!   Kicking off as normal with Formula 1, where most of the drama took place off the track! We had the result of the overspend from last season with Red Bull, who overspent by £1.86 million. The team have been fined $7 million and 10% penalty on their aero production research. Team principal, Christian Horner denies any wrong doing, and puts it down to poor accounting and nominal tax fees. Was this enough punishment for Red Bull? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

Lewis Hamilton made the headlines as well, after he was booed in Mexico for beating Sergio Perez. Fernando Alonso also said that Hamilton only had to beat his team mate to win the Championship, whereas Max Verstappen had to beat the entire field to win his Championship.

Max Verstappen secured his 14th win for the year in Mexico, taking the record for the most wins and most points in a season.

The Porsche Carrera Cup was in Asia, with 6 race cars written off as a result of a driver rejoining the track too early.

Did we have the best overtake in NASCAR? At Martinsville? Ross Chastain performed an epic wall riding manoeuvre to overtake on the final lap and secure him a space in the title race! We will crown the NASCAR champion next weekend!

We also have the Moto GP in Valencia next week too, where we will crown a champion there too!

  • More F1 cheating? MotoGP, NASCAR fights! Caterham Champions Crowned & more!

Welcome to episode 42 of the Lovecars on the Grid podcast!

Our hosts, Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman bring us another roundup of motorsport events from the past week!

There's no news from the FIA on the overspending from Redbull. Zak Brown, CEO of McLaren has written a complaint to the FIA regarding it. Cheating is cheating!

Elsewhere in F1, we have no news on who are going to fill the Williams and Haas vacant seats, although there are rumours of who will be racing in them next year, we're just waiting on confirmation of super licenses!

World Touring Cars will not continue after the end of the 2022 season, having just 12 cars on the grid and 20 minute races.

Dan Ticktum has signed for another year in Formula E, having signed an extended contract. The sport has also decided to drop the Fan Boost for the next season.

There was a horrific crash in the support race to the European Le Mans Series, in which James Hunt's son, Freddie took the win.

The Moto GP race in Australia was potentially the most exciting race of the year so far, as 8 bikes crossed the finish line within 0.884 seconds of each other. Suzuki rider, Alex Rins took the win from 10th on the grid.

British Superbikes crowned Bradley Ray as their Championship Winner at Brands Hatch this weekend, despite a difficult race for him.

We had a Donington Park decider in British GT, with Ian Loggie taking the Championship win in his Mercedes, having finished 2nd in the race.

Bubba Wallace and Kyle Larson had an altercation in NASCAR, following a risky move from Larson in Las Vegas and Bubba using his car as a missile!

Then we crown new Champions in Caterham. With the Academy series at Silverstone, while the 270 and 310 championships were at Spa Francorchamps.

Next week, Formula 1 returns to the circuit of the Americas, while we have WRC in Spain, Moto GP in Malaysia, World Superbikes in Argentina and NASCAR are in Miami!

  • More FIA Meltdown? Most bizarre Formula 1 race?! Max Verstappen double World Champion! BTCC & more!

Welcome to episode 41 of the Lovecars on the grid podcast! Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman bring us another roundup of motorsport events!

This week, we have a reigning, Formula 1 World Champion in Japan, there's an FIA meltdown, plus W Series, NASCAR, a new BTCC World Champion, Superbikes and more!

We start this week to pay tribute to Chrissy Rouse, who sadly succumbed to injuries from an incident at Donington Park last weekend. We also pay tribute to Phil Read. The 83 year old was a 7 time World Moto GP Champion. Our thoughts are with their family and friends.

In an announcement in the W Series, it's been announced that the series won't be racing in the USA or Mexico due to lack of funding. Jamie Chadwick is champion again for the 3rd, massive congratulations!

We had the most bizarre weekend at Suzuka in Japan with Formula 1. With the wet weather, we had no DRS, yet Max Verstappen was still able to take the Formula 1 World Championship for the 2nd time. There was confusion over the points at the end of the race and how many laps were left to go.

During the race, the organisers allowed a recovery crane on the track. How did that happen? Visibility was awful, and we had marshalls and recovery vehicles on track during a live race!

Then we come to issue with Red Bull's overspending! Although it hasn't been released how much the F1 team overspent on their development, it was declared by the FIA as a minor overspend, but what was the amount? Will Max Verstappen take the record for the most wins in a Formula 1 season?

British Touring Cars also crowned their World Champion this weekend. Following a thrilling season finale at Brands Hatch, Tom Ingram took his first World Championship.

World Superbikes still have 3 rounds to go, following a weekend at Portimao. Razgatlioglu claimed two wins on his Ducati, whilst the 3rd race win went to Alvaro Bautista, who edges closer to his Championship victory.

NASCAR brought us drama in Charlotte, with 4 drivers being knocked out, including reigning champion, Carl Larson. The race win went to Christopher Bell, putting him into the playoffs and kicking out Larson!

Next week, we have some amazing racing to look forward to! Moto GP at Phillip Island, NASCAR in Las Vegas, plus Caterham Racing at both Silverstone and Spa Francorchamps in Belgium!
