Formula 1: Saudi Arabian Grand Prix 2025 – Jeddah Corniche Circuit Results & Highlights
At the high-speed Jeddah Corniche Circuit in Saudi Arabia, McLaren's Oscar Piastri clinched his third win of the 2025 Formula 1 season, capitalising on a five-second penalty given to Red Bull’s Max Verstappen for exceeding track limits and gaining an unfair advantage. Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc rounded out the podium in third.
With this win, Piastri now leads the F1 Drivers’ Championship, becoming the first Australian to top the standings since Mark Webber in 2010.
Lando Norris rebounded from a crash in qualifying that placed him 10th on the grid to finish fourth, also setting the fastest lap of the race. However, he lost the championship lead to teammate Piastri.
Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton continued to face challenges adapting to Ferrari’s SF-25, finishing seventh and trailing teammate Leclerc by over 30 seconds. Hamilton cited car adaptation issues, a claim Martin Brundle questioned post-race.
Formula 2: Race Results from Jeddah, Saudi Arabia
In the Formula 2 Sprint Race, Arvid Lindblad (Campos Racing) made history as the youngest-ever F2 race winner. Teammate Pepe Martí secured second place, while Alex Dunne (Rodin Motorsport) completed the podium in third.
The F2 Feature Race saw a strong performance from Richard Verschoor (MP Motorsport), who took the win ahead of Jak Crawford (DAMS Lucas Oil) and Victor Martins (ART Grand Prix). Verschoor now leads the F2 Drivers’ Championship standings.

FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC): 6 Hours of Imola – Race Recap
In Imola, Italy, Ferrari’s #51 Hypercar—driven by Antonio Giovinazzi, James Calado, and Alessandro Pier Guidi—delivered a dominant performance, leading the 6 Hours of Imola from start to finish. The victory marks Ferrari’s first WEC win of the season and puts the team at the top of the WEC Drivers’ Championship standings.

Join Paul and Tiff as they dive into another action-packed week of global motorsport, covering Formula 1, British GT, Ginetta GT Academy, and NASCAR.
Formula 1: Japanese Grand Prix – Suzuka
Max Verstappen claimed his first win of the 2025 Formula 1 season and his fourth straight victory at Suzuka in commanding style. Starting from pole, Verstappen held off the McLaren pair of Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, who crossed the line in second and third respectively. The result closes the championship gap, leaving Verstappen just a single point behind leader Norris.
A standout moment came from 18-year-old Kimi Antonelli. Driving for Mercedes, he briefly led the race and clocked the fastest lap — becoming the youngest driver ever to achieve both in a single Grand Prix. Meanwhile, Lewis Hamilton, now racing in Ferrari red, finished seventh and shared hope for upcoming car upgrades to boost competitiveness.
British GT Championship: Donington Park
The British GT season kicked off at Donington Park with a strong statement from 2 Seas Motorsport, who stormed to victory in the GT3 category. An impressive debut that hints at a promising campaign ahead.
Ginetta GT Academy: Donington Park
A familiar face returned to the Ginetta grid this week as Nick Ponting made a one-off comeback in the GT Academy opener at Donington. Once a Ginetta Junior competitor 20 years ago almost to the day, Ponting brought energy and experience to the paddock. But the big question: could he win over Paul and Tiff with his on-track performance?
NASCAR Cup Series: Goodyear 400 – Darlington Raceway
Denny Hamlin continued his hot streak, capturing his second consecutive win with a clutch performance at the Goodyear 400. It was the 56th win of his career. After a late caution, Hamlin nailed both the pit stop and overtime restart to seal the deal. William Byron dominated the majority of the race, leading a staggering 243 laps, but a late pit strategy saw him settle for second place.
From F1 icons and teenage prodigies to GT surprises and NASCAR drama, it’s been a week full of unpredictable twists, fierce competition, and unforgettable moments — all here On the Grid.

It might have been a quieter weekend in the world of motorsport, but there was still plenty to talk about! This week, Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman dive into all the key action from around the globe, plus the biggest off-track drama that has everyone in the paddock talking.
In MotoGP, the world's best riders took on the bumps, twists, and challenges of the Circuit of the Americas. With Marc Márquez’s history of dominance in Texas, could anyone stop him this time, or would we see a new king of COTA emerge? We break down all the thrills and spills from an action-packed weekend.
Meanwhile, the World Superbike Championship roared into Portugal, delivering breathtaking battles and edge-of-your-seat racing. Who came out on top at the undulating Portimão circuit, and how is the title fight shaping up?
Over in the U.S., NASCAR was doing what NASCAR does best—trading paint, rubbing bumpers, and keeping the excitement levels high at Martinsville. Short track racing always brings drama, but who managed to survive the chaos and take the checkered flag?
But the biggest story of the week wasn’t on the track—it was the ongoing Red Bull driver merry-go-round. With Liam Lawson being turfed out after just two races before Suzuka, Japan.
Join us for another episode of Lovecars On the Grid, where we break down all the latest motorsport action, give our take on the biggest stories, and of course, throw in a few laughs along the way.

This week on 'On the Grid' motorsport podcast, Tiff Needell and Paul Woodman take you on a thrilling journey through a weekend packed with racing action from across the globe. From the icy forests of Sweden to the banked oval of Daytona and the sun-soaked high-speed streets of Jeddah, we break down all the drama, excitement, and controversy.
🇸🇪 WRC – Rally Sweden: Snowbanks, blistering pace, and daring drifts! We analise the action from Round 2 of the World Rally Championship, where Esapekka Lappi put on a stunning display, but it was Elfyn Evans and Toyota who emerged victorious after a tense battle. With narrow margins and breathtaking commitment on the snowy roads, we discuss the standout performances, key moments, and how the championship battle is shaping up.
🇺🇸 NASCAR – Daytona 500: The Great American Race delivered its usual mix of speed, strategy, and chaos at Daytona International Speedway. With former U.S. President Donald Trump making an appearance, the off-track spectacle was just as headline-worthy as the on-track action. We break down how William Byron held his nerve to claim victory in a rain-delayed and crash-filled race, the late-race drama, and the big names who fell short. Plus, how is NASCAR’s new season shaping up after this classic curtain-raiser?
🇸🇦 Formula E – Diriyah E-Prix (Jeddah): The all-electric series delivered another dose of unpredictable racing under the floodlights of Saudi Arabia, with a stunning Pole Position from Taylor Barnard and a podium full of Brits. However, one of the biggest talking points came from Dan Ticktum, who once again stole the headlines with an explosive team radio meltdown. We break down his latest outburst, what went wrong for him, and whether he’s running out of chances in top-tier motorsport.
Three very different racing series, three completely contrasting styles of competition, but all equally entertaining! Tune in as we dissect the biggest moments, discuss what’s next for each championship, and, of course, hear Tiff’s legendary insights from a life spent behind the wheel.
