Love's Beginning

Ego is going to keep functioning as you programmed it to function, but as you see that the thoughts it sends you have zero meaning, it cannot steer you. You have to believe ego’s thoughts in order to allow it to steer you, to take you on a trip through fantasy. Be not at all concerned about the idea of ego steering anyone else. The opportunity you have in every moment is to notice when you are allowing this steering by ego. The rest will take care of itself.

We wish to speak with you today about vulnerability. You can look at vulnerability two ways for the purposes of this conversation. Ego will tell you that you are vulnerable when you begin to question ego, so there is the perception of vulnerability as a danger that ego tries to sell you. Then there is an opening up to Spirit, a sharing of all the feelings and the thoughts you experience with Spirit. You can’t get to that openness without dropping the defense of egoic identity, so there is that beneficial vulnerability of opening up the protective shell to allow Spirit in. Spirit does dissolve the shell, but Spirit also shows you how you never needed it, so this openness is in no way dangerous.

Perfection just is. You cannot find it in a world. We invite you to notice when you are attempting to find perfection in a world. We open the door to looking upon stress of any kind. Is it not always because you have found the world or one of its characters to have fallen short of some invented standard?

All things work together for good. This is a lesson in your A Course in Miracles. If you can remind yourself to see and experience life this way, then you need not be in distress about any separate thing. You need not fear any seen-as-separate thing. Put your faith and trust in this: All seen-as-separate things work together for the good of the whole. There is no need for you to understand it or control it. Just know that everything is working out, and rest there. In this resting place, inspiration can come to you and through you.

As you allow light to penetrate the layers of false concept sent to you by ego, it will become obvious to you what it means to believe an egoic thought. What ego truly offers you–unrest–will be uncovered and made obvious. As it is made obvious to you what it means to attach to an egoic thought–to say yes to a lack of peace, you will experience extremes of emotion. Remember that feeling is your easy and obvious guide.

When you find you have wandered off the path of joy, it is appropriate to ask for help, abundant help. We offer you this:

We invite you to find your willingness to face the deeply uncomfortable without looking further than your own thoughts for the cause. People sometimes say that you should “get real.” This is getting very real. If you are having any problems with your experience, it is your thoughts that cause the perception and the experience of those problems. When you become aware of those thoughts, you can also become aware of the light shining beyond them. You can allow all of the significance to drain from the thoughts that caused the discomfort. You can ask the light to supply any thoughts you need in exchange.

God is stuck on a permanent setting–help. God is not a separate one who helps a separate you, but it is impossible to close the communication you have open with what you Are. You can ignore it. You can deny it. But you can never shut it off completely. This communication will show you a world of miracles, a world where the miracle is the only answer to any perceived difficulty, a world where every step is aided by the enormity and power of what you Are. You need not fear what your communication with God will show you.

As you go deeper through the layers of perception, the extremes perception shows you will have less and less meaning, and you’ll come to see that the light shining behind perception has all the meaning. Faith and trust will build. Faith and trust are building, and you will rest easy, relying upon the Light to be in charge of all things. Knowing that the light is present everywhere, in everyone, in every situation, and in everything, there is something Real for you to rely upon everywhere. You have every reason to rest easy–to be carried, to be held, to be shown.
