Actually the title is misleading; It’s really Jim Meskimen imitating George Clooney pretending to know who Rebecca is, and that he likes her hair!

In part 3 with Jim Meskimen, Jim describes moving away from Hollywood, growing up in a showbiz family with his real mom Marion Ross (the iconic Mrs. “C” from tv series Happy Days).  Jim shares what he learned about the non-glamorous, practical, business elements for the workaday actor, discusses specific examples of entrepreneurial efforts he used and then summarizes his ‘rules to live by’.

He’s been called “Comedy’s Impressions Genius” and Jim Meskimen is an accomplished actor, improviser and voice artist whose work is well-known to TV and film and gaming audiences. He has worked with director Ron Howard on five of his films. His mother is Golden Globe and Emmy-nominated actress Marion Ross of "Happy Days" iconic fame.

Hollywood actor Jim Meskimen’s interview continues today.  We discuss 3 important topics: The Human Voice, MOCAP and HAIRY FINGERS. Jim deconstructs the human voice from his view as an actor, impressionist and audiobook director and the nuance of isolating key elements to recreate a real person or create a new character.   MOCAP – its effect and challenges. And Spandex. And your joints! Then last but not least – HAIRY FINGERS and FINGER WIGS, which you can only understand if you listen! He’s been called “Comedy’s Impressions Genius”.  Jim Meskimen is an accomplished actor, improviser and voice artist whose work is well-known to TV and film and gaming audiences. He has worked with director Ron Howard on five of his films including Apollo 13 (1995), How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000) and Frost/Nixon (2008). His mother is Golden Globe and Emmy-nominated actress Marion Ross of "Happy Days" iconic fame.  VO artist LoveThatRebecca aka Rebecca Michaels Haugh is your host and producer of Love That VoiceOver. Is there a power play between agent and talent? Is it still the Hollywood stereotype? Roger King didn’t want to be a DJ…  but he had a degree in Radio/TV broadcasting.  So he honed his sales skills, was a good businessman as his own VO talent, got repped by PN Agency and then bought it when he had the chance. He knows both sides!    Roger offers nuggets of advice about talent communicating with agents, Professionally being selective vs being “clever”… How industry changes and lots more talent entering – or saturating - the market had changed his job.  Roger King is the President of PN Agency, which provides voice-over talent to the radio, television, film, multi-media and animation industries and was founded in 1991, and now represents over 100 voice over talents & translators in more than 15 different languages. He blogs about the Canadian voiceover industry from the perspective of a talent agent at www.voiceovercanada.ca.  PN Agency aka Performance Network Agency is the oldest non-union voice talent agency in Canada, with offices in Toronto and Montreal, representing local talent in those cities. If you didn’t know Ed Hooks before, you will LOVE him after hearing this interview!  In part 2, we cover a lot of ground and there are great insights to the animation industry with Ed’s perspective. Some tidbits: Digital and Live Action are coming together… Be Entrepreneurial. Best advice – think globally… Actors have a license to stare – and see people for what they really are!    Are those in the MOCAP suits Actors or not? How should they be paid?  It’s all up for grabs right now. Digital has changed the landscape of payments. Digital and live action are coming together. Animators are having the exact same ideas as actors. Be Entrepreneurial. Think globally.  The movie Chico & Rita was produced by a Barcelona Spain company but was actually created by companies in 11 different countries coordinated via Spain. The production model is changing.  It’s as big as when sound entered films! You can work with anyone, anywhere. Ed works all over the world and shares his China experience as a ‘Master’ and how he had to invent again, to break thru the culture walls. Then - WHY is that Iron Giant (from the movie) piggy bank in Ed’s closet and why is it his favorite thing in there?  Guilty pleasures, best childhood friends and Shamans. Ed Hooks is a 30 year acting professional and has pioneered acting training specifically for animators. His books Acting for Animators and Acting in Animation: A Look at 12 Films have become standard texts at animation schools all over the world.
