In today’s solo episode Britt Olson breaks down the 6 reasons you might be addicted to sugar paired with a variety of ways to combat your pesky sugar cravings. Dealing with extreme cravings or possible food addiction of any kind is no small task. It not only feels all consuming, but these foods also tend to rule our lives. You may often feel totally out of control to these cravings. So if you are anything like Britt once was, and you are tired of feeling like you can’t make it out of the grocery store without a trip down the candy aisle or stand no chance against your kitchen pantry or freezer drawer come 3 in the afternoon, this conversation is definitely for you.
While there are a host of reasons you might be addicted to sugar, Britt keeps things simple by sharing 6 of the more common reasons paired with a glimpse into her 3-step approach to quitting your sugar habit once and for all.
Britt created a 3-step approach to quitting your sugar habit and returning to the real you. For what many may not realize is how your sugar habit is impacting your sense of purpose in life, emotional health, and brain health. Sugar goes far beyond impacting the physical body. Her approach utilizes 9 wellness tools, grouped into 3 mini rituals that you can easily incorporate into your day to day. After her own overpowering sweet tooth that developed postpartum, Britt created this unique mind body approach for her own recovery, and later recognized the value in this approach for others outside of herself, so she decided to bring it to life for the wellbeing of others too. This solo episode covers a variety of topics including:
6 reasons you may be addicted to sugar
The brain on sugar and why you can’t quit your sugar habit
Factors contributing to your sugar cravings such as dehydration, lack of sleep, and stress
The role nutrition and supplementation plays to sugar cravings and blood sugar levels
Hormonal imbalance and sugar cravings
Tips to reduce your sugar cravings
Tools to reference when a sugar craving strikes
“If you felt like one of the six ways you might be addicted to sugar connects with you - please know that you are not alone. And please hold zero shame for yourself too. Honestly, in our sugar-heavy world we are pretty much set up to fail. Sugar not only acts as a mind and mood-altering drug, it's put in virtually everything you consume. You’d be shocked to find how much sugar is added to foods that you may not typically expect. This is extremely common in the health food world as products are labeled or marketed as being quote on quote healthy, when really they are loaded with sugars or oils. If anyone was to actually measure their daily sugar intake, they would be floored at how much sugar is in their diets. So if you feel you are probably not of the 75% of the US population consuming too much sugar, once you start reading your ingredient labels, you might be in for a rude awakening.”

In today’s solo episode Britt Olson breaks down her own experience with a very intense postpartum sweet tooth that led to a later full blown sugar addiction experience. She goes into the various ways a sugar craving can commonly pop up postpartum as well as her own tips and processes to moving through it once and for all.
Britt has since created a 3-step approach to quitting your sugar habit and returning to the real you. This solo episode covers a variety of topics including:
Normalizing the postpartum sugar habit
Pregnancy nutrition, and supplementation
Dehydration and breastfeeding
Stress and overwhelm as a new mom
Working with a sugar habit as a new mom
Hormonal imbalance and sugar cravings
“Now I’m not here to tell you that quitting your sugar habit is going to be easy. It’s going to take dedication, discipline, and some creativity and flexibility on your end - but it’s worth it mama. It’s worth it to get to the other side and take back some control in your life. Because as a mom, I now see how ungrounding it is to feel completely out of control of everything in your life, all of the time. Feeling out of uncontrol pulls you away from your center and even leaves you questioning your reality, I get it.”

Here’s the thing many of us fail to realize until we step into motherhood ourselves - motherhood looks different to everyone. It’s a journey not a destination. How yesterday went, has zero cause and effect as to how today might be going.
A new mom telling everyone how much she loves her baby holds zero indication as to how she’s actually doing mentally. A mom can love their new baby and be deeply struggling with the transition into motherhood or the postpartum experience.
Today's conversation is a short one with just a couple tips for those of us struggling as to how to best support mom friends. And I get it, I was once there too. Until I became a mom myself, I had zero clue what my mom friends needed from me during their times of transition.
So to the mama out there feeling alone with a loss of community - this episode is for you <3
And to the best friend not sure how to support her friend’s transition into motherhood - this is episode is also for you <3
“Help your mom friend feel like the world isn’t moving on without her. Continue inviting her to movie nights, Zoom meetups, yoga classes, park dates, whatever you and your other friends are making plans for - invite your mom friend. Even though you know she already can’t go, that doesn’t matter. It’s the receiving of the invitation that brings life to her. And who knows, one day she might be available. So don’t also assume she’s never available.”

In this solo conversation, Britt breaks down the current trend of wellness influencers moving away from vegan lifestyles and announcing the reintroduction of meat back into their diets. She speaks to the importance of following your own body’s cues, being open to constant change, and maintaining your own discernment as to what works vs. doesn’t work for your individual body and health needs.
“Your life is yours to be lived, so take inspiration from the lives of others and try different things on, of course, that’s the time we live in – and – make your life, your life. Do not try to textbook copy someone else’s life because social media portrays a certain preview … do not try to copy the way someone is feeding or supporting their health, solely off of what one is choosing to share with the public.”
This solo episode covers a variety of topics including:
· The pros and cons of social media influencers
· Our easily influenced society
· Getting caught in wellness trends
· The high-protein trend going around
· Moving from a vegan diet to a meat-based diet
· Vegan vs. Plant-Based
· The healing properties of various whole foods from the earth
· Healing protocols vs. dietary trends
· A bio-individual viewpoint to health and wellness
· Discerning your body’s individual needs and cues
· Remaining open to change and evolution in a human experience
“But in return of this movement, it’s pushed our society to get creative and really change up the conventional farming as it pertains to meat. Suddenly labels started shifting and a couple companies got creative in finding ways to get clean, healthy variations of meat out to more of the general public …”
“I simply encourage you to give yourself permission to experiment with the various styles of food available to you and your unique body. Experiment, have fun, enjoy the process – it’s a privilege to be able to eat food, truly. And try to not label yourself. Try to not get caught up in fads, trends, and the lingering diet culture that still exists in our culture today, and remember to nourish yourself from the inside out at all times.”

Britt is joined alongside author, Dana Whitby, to break down the intention and inspiration behind the creative process of birthing an oracle deck into the world. Dana’s latest creation, The Inner Compass Oracle, is a stunning 48-Card Deck guiding us to use our intuition as a compass to navigate life.
“I hope that you feel a deeper connection to yourself and to your own soul when you use my cards.”
Dana Whitby has used and loved divination cards of all kinds since 1999. She holds an Undergraduate Degree in Psychology and a Masters Degree in Counseling. After a spiritual awakening in 2015, Dana expanded her work into the mystical realms. She uses a rich toolbox of spiritual modalities with her clients, and is trained in the areas of Mediumship, Regression Therapy, Holy Fire Reiki, and Meditation.
The Inner Compass Oracle: A 48-Card Deck and Guidebook to Activate Your Divine Navigational System
The Inner Compass Oracle teaches readers in a tangible way how to open and follow their intuition. The concept of listening to an "inner compass" is widely known, yet the process of how to do so is made difficult in our modern society. The Inner Compass Oracle is a tool which can be used to initiate or deepen one's relationship with their higher self in order to receive clarity and guidance on their life journey. These cards will take the user on an experience that is both healing and eternal.
“The things that take a long time, devotion, dedication, and a willingness to push through when you are ready to give up … those are the things that are worth it.”
This conversation covers a variety of topics including:
· The evolution of the creative process
· The many layers and places of healing
· Inspiration behind The Inner Compass Oracle
· Producing an oracle deck and bringing your visions to life
· The channeling process and divine inspiration
· Learning to rely on intuition
· A spiritual journey through the lesson of patience in our fast-paced world
· The difference in tarot and oracle cards
· A card message for the energy surrounding summer 2023 | 20:00
“My intention is to help people listen to their own Inner Compass. I really hope you take every message in the guidebook with a grain of salt … I hope that if you pull a card and you feel something deeply inside, that you would trust that, and that you would use my messages as a jumping off point. If you find one sentence in the whole card description that resonates, take that and expand upon it for yourself.”

Stepping into the role of the mother brought Britt to the depths of her soul, guiding her through a spiritual journey of self-discovery like none other. Becoming a mom came with so many blissful and lifelong, memory-making moments in correlation with other darker and sometimes scarier thought-induced moments of reality too. As Britt has learned along the way, this change can bring up our shadows and sides of ourselves we don’t always like to be confronted with.
In today’s solo episode Britt openly shares about some of the not so pretty moments she encountered in her initial transition and what she did to bring herself back to more of her baseline, conscious self. It was important for Britt to share this piece of her journey so that other mom’s out there will feel less alone in their experience. For as Britt witnessed, the initial transition into motherhood can feel lonelier than one may realize.
As always, the intention behind this conversation is to inspire and guide you along a mindful exploration to living a more fluid life through a deeper connection to the soul.
“Stepping into motherhood and navigating the early postpartum waters of suddenly having another being directly dependent on me has been deeply beautiful AND equally challenging. I sit with both high stress and deep gratitude simultaneously, all of the time.”
This solo episode covers a variety of topics including:
· Mom rage and the associated guilt
· Moving through a dysregulated nervous system
· Lessons of motherhood and life transitions
· A 3-step process to feeling good with yourself as a new mom
· Reasons to disconnect from social media
· Cultivating an impactful meditation practice
· Seeking one-on-one therapeutic support
“It’s okay for your journey to look different than that of others. It’s okay to normalize the not so shiny moments of this human experience. In fact, I encourage you to love and normalize all parts of you. And to always remember to celebrate how far you’ve come.”

Today’s conversation is coming to you in a bit of a different format in that Britt was recently interviewed on the Unmasked & Open Hearted podcast where Shannon Keating hosted her for an unforgettable conversation about Britt’s recent journey through pregnancy and motherhood – and Britt felt it was important to also host the conversation here on this channel too.
In what ended up being a quite powerful conversation, Britt opened up about the various experiences she had to navigate on her journey into and now through, motherhood. The two spoke about miscarriage, pregnancy, postpartum mental health, identity shifts, and being present with ourselves and our children. Plus, Britt also shared her perspective (with privilege) as to her choice to still not being back with her work, 8 months after giving birth.
This episode also dives into:

Throughout Britt’s recent journey with growing and birthing a human into this world, she’s been shown the true power of the body and all that it is capable of. In today’s solo Britt shares her varying perspectives on physical health from food to cravings, body image, and nourishing the body with loving compassion. While she comes to this solo from mostly a pregnancy lens, however, she feels the information is still relevant to anyone’s wellness journey, pregnant or not.
“Proper nutrition is a lifeline. And with nutrition also comes proper supplementation and ensuring you are feeding your individual body with the specific nutrients your individual body needs. What we consume is vital and becoming conscious of what we consume is so life giving. I’m going to specifically be referencing food today, but consumption also comes in the form of toxins, news, media, relationships, words, etc.”
This solo episode covers a variety of topics including:
· Observing the health of the female body
· Pregnancy cravings, nutrition, and supplementation
· Nutrition for overall female health
· Intrinsic cravings vs. extrinsic wants
· The role presence plays in connecting to your body
· Listening to the body’s cues
· A bio-individual viewpoint to health
· Developing a loving relationship with your body
“I feel the entirety of my experiences in this department provided such an important lesson on staying present enough to listen to the cues we are being given. I wasn’t eating much meat going into pregnancy, got pregnant and suddenly needed meat – would have killed for meat a couple times, literally. It was a primal urge, a signal from my body, not mental at all. Completely different. Cravings and our ways of eating often get so blurred as we try to understand what our bodies vs. our minds are communicating to us.”

After a very intentional (and unintentional) sacred pause, Britt Olson is overjoyed to bring you the Loving Your Own Soul podcast once again. In today’s solo episode Britt provides a brief recap as to where she’s been the last 18 months, her learnings, and a very special creation she’s birthed into the world.
“I believe we are all meant to fall head over heels in love with our life. I believe the gift of experiencing joy is not only our birthright, but the secret to total wellbeing, abundance, and vitality. I believe that your current life is made up of a series of choices and if you don’t like your current life, you just have to choose differently.”
This solo episode covers a variety of topics including:
· A practice on reflection
· A reintroduction to Britt Olson and the Loving Your Own Soul podcast
· The series of choices that brings us to our current reality
· Showing up for ourselves with daily rituals
· A reminder that it’s okay and necessary to pause
· Transitioning into motherhood and a new location
· A spiritual wellness retreat paired with 1st trimester nausea
· Experiencing supreme beauty and challenge at the same time.
“There’s never a timeline on a transition or what that phase will look like … so to spare yourself major anxiety and possible depression, if you are going through a transition right now yourself, don’t pressure yourself to move through it too quickly or for it to look a certain way. Allow it to be, to transpire as it should, and to remember that life doesn’t have to be so serious or planned out.”
Journal prompts:
Looking back to _______ moment of time: Who were you in that moment of time vs. who are you now? What were your future visions and do any of them match where you are now? Would you back then have ever guessed you’d be where you are right now in this very moment? What have you learned? What have you grown through? Can you count your blessings or compare your wins and losses?
