Summary of project progress from 2022. This would've been a post for the end of 2022, but I never made it, so I decided to make it now, after finishing the post for 2023. 2022 was dominated by the work on YunoHost as a new basis for our "Virtual Studio", implemented on our existing Digital Ocean VPS.
This was also the year that Elon Musk purchased Twitter, triggering a huge migration of users onto other platforms, which quickly made the Fediverse in general and Mastodon in particular, much more viable as social media. So I also "moved my flag" to the Fediverse this year, consolidating my presence there (I had actually set up a Mastodon account in Fall of 2021, after some earlier failed attempts).
AI art became a big deal, and I did some experiments using MidJourney during Summer of 2022.
00:10 January - Reports, Backups, and Other for 2021
00:35 Added a "Transporter" effect for a home video I made in 2021, which included a small transporter set from the Space History Museum in Alamagordo, NM.
00:50 February - all about testing and reviewing YunoHost web applications
01:30 March - integrating non-YunoHost web sites and ResourceSpace
02:10 April - deeper integration, and automated installation with Ansible (not completely successful)
02:33 Comparing how assets appear in Gitea and ResourceSpace
02:50 Setting up the Virtual Studio with YunoHost based apps: Portal, Misskey, Wordpress, Gitea, PeerTube
03:19 Visualizing Git repo with Gource proved that the history was preserved in the migration
03:30 June - customizing Gitea and integrating Git/LFS support for large multimedia files
04:10 July - detailing PLSS prop for "Suiting Up" sequence in Lunatics
04:20 Got a MidJourney account and started experimenting with AI diffusion-based art, demoed some example uses
04:50 August - rigged control panel "hero" prop for PLSS
05:02 More MidJourney experiments with retouching and a video made with only MidJourney and Kdenlive effects
05:19 Revisited staging animations, removed inappropriate "easing"
05:30 Revising "Suiting Up" sequence, with new storyboards.
06:03 Helped Ariel record lines for "Saffron" in "Pepper & Carrot #3"
06:10 October - added specific display animation for PLSS control panel
06:26 Web crawlers clobbered my AWS S3 attached to Gitea, due to them crawling LFS files!
06:31 Tested using "Change Speed" in Kdenlive to fake a rhythmic "speed ramp" effect
06:44 Hosted Pepper & Carrot #3
06:50 November - collated a library of control panel widgets
07:04 Started creating images specifically for PR use on social media, with watermarks, etc.
07:10 Some graphics about the impact of Twitter migrations on Mastodon/Fediverse
07:19 Hosting the Pepper & Carrot #4 release
07:30 Upgraded Primera Bravo II Disc Duplicator to handle M-Disc / Blu-Ray media
08:32 Created (and collected) a large number of custom emoji for Film Freedom Misskey site, including characters from Free Culture works
