Welcome our first survivor of the True Survivor Series, Niki Incorvia! There are just some things in life that can never prepare one to lose someone to homicide. Niki has an educational background in crime and homicide, yet losing her brother to homicide provided a different perspective in her career. During her journey, receiving support for losing a sibling has been challenge, yet Niki was able to find ways to honor her brother and make sure she understood as much as she could through restorative justice.
Happy New Year! Rebecca Benny reflects on her grief journey during 2021 and reintroduces what LVM ADVNTGE is. By losing her mother to homicide, Rebecca realizes that she lost more than just a mother, but her identity as well. Her loss caused her to avoid a lot, but during the year of 2022 accountability is a part of her grief journey.
Trigger Warning: this is the most vulnerable episode so far on the LVM Podcast, including experiences about viewings and funerals. Rebecca Benny talks about the end of the week after her mother died. It's the end of people invading her privacy, the end of all the stares she never asked for, but most importantly, it's the end of seeing her mother forever.
How should someone break the news about their mother being murdered to others? This is the issue that Rebecca Benny faces after she finds out about her mother's murder. Even after having a plan on how to tell others, she later realizes that things do not go as planned.
