- Luke 4:14-15 (CSB) - Then Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about him spread throughout the entire vicinity. 15 He was teaching in their synagogues, being praised by everyone.

You are NOT going home empty handed

#1. IT'S TIME TO STOP ASKING QUESTIONS AND START WORKING

- Matthew 28:18-20 (CSB) - Jesus came near and said to them, “All authority has been given to me in heaven and on earth. 19 Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

#2. ALLOW GOD TO POUR HIMSELF INTO YOU

- Acts 2:42-47 (CSB) - They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread, and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe, and many wonders and signs were being performed through the apostles. 44 Now all the believers were together and held all things in common. 45 They sold their possessions and property and distributed the proceeds to all, as any had need. 46 Every day they devoted themselves to meeting together in the temple, and broke bread from house to house. They ate their food with joyful and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. Every day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved.

#3. SET THE EXAMPLE

- 1 Timothy 4:12 (CSB) - Don’t let anyone despise your youth, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity.

- 2 Timothy 2:20-22 (NKJV) - But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay, some for honor and some for dishonor. 21 Therefore if anyone cleanses himself from the latter, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified and useful for the Master, prepared for every good work. 22 Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.

#1. GOD WANTS TO SET YOU APART 

Sanctified: To be set apart, pure, holy, dedicated to God 

- 1 Peter 1:16 (NKJV) - Because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.”

- Romans 12:2 (NKJV) - And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.

#2. GOD WANTS YOU USEFUL 

Useful: Easy to use, serving a purpose, helpful

- Ephesians 5:15-17 (NKJV) - See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is.

#3. GOD WANTS YOU TO BE PREPARED 

Prepared: To make ready, to make the necessary preparations 

- John 14:12 (NKJV) - “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father."

- Acts 1:8 (NKJV) - But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

- Ephesians 5:18-20 (NKJV) - And do not be drunk with wine, in which is dissipation; but be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord, 20 giving thanks always for all things to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ,

The Wilderness

- Luke 4:1-2 (NKJV) - Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, 2 being tempted for forty days by the devil. And in those days He ate nothing, and afterward, when they had ended, He was hungry.

#1. YOU WILL FACE TEMPTATION IN THE WILDERNESS 

- Luke 4:1-2 (NKJV) - Then Jesus, being filled with the Holy Spirit, returned from the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, 2 being tempted for forty days by the devil. And in those days He ate nothing, and afterward, when they had ended, He was hungry.

- Mark 4:15 (NKJV) - And these are the ones by the wayside where the word is sown. When they hear, Satan comes immediately and takes away the word that was sown in their hearts.

#2. THE TEMPTATION WILL BE TO GIVE UP, GIVE IN, & GET OUT 

The Devil - The Devil is not the enemies name, it is his title. The word “devil” is the world diablos, which means to slander, accuse falsely, speak lies for the purpose of separating man from God. 

#3. THE KEY TO THE WILDERNESS IS OBEDIENCE & ENDURANCE 

- Hebrews 6:11-12 (NKJV) - And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope until the end, 12 that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.

- 1 Corinthians 10:13 (NKJV) - No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

- James 1:12 (NKJV) - Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.

- James 4:6-7 (NKJV) -  But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: “God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.”

For it is written, ‘You shall worship the Lord your God, and Him only you shall serve.’ ” 9 Then he brought Him to Jerusalem, set Him on the pinnacle of the temple, and said to Him, “If You are the Son of God, throw Yourself down from here. 10 For it is written: ‘He shall give His angels charge over you, To keep you,’ 11 and, ‘In their hands they shall bear you up, Lest you dash your foot against a stone.’ ” 12 And Jesus answered and said to him, “It has been said, ‘You shall not tempt the Lord your God.’ ”

13 Now when the devil had ended every temptation, he departed from Him until an opportune time. 14 Then Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit to Galilee, and news of Him went out through all the surrounding region.

The Wilderness:

- Jeremiah 1:4-5 (NKJV) - Then the word of the Lord came to me, saying: 5 “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you; Before you were born I sanctified you; I ordained you a prophet to the nations.”

- Psalm 139:17-18 (NKJV) - How precious also are Your thoughts to me, O God!
How great is the sum of them! 18 If I should count them, they would be more in number than the sand; When I awake, I am still with You.

- Ephesians 2:10 (NKJV) - For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.

#3. THE WILDERNESS IS A PLACE OF PREPARATION
