Lynn Logic – Episode 38: Dear White People / Dear Black People
In this episode, I wade directly into uncomfortable territory—race, language, behavior, and the quiet (and not-so-quiet) ways people tell on themselves. This piece was inspired by a story my friend Stella shared with me about dealing with a racist coworker, and it turned into a broader conversation about awareness, accountability, and learning when to shut the hell up.
First, Dear White People:
We talk about words that are not ours to use, why whispering certain words is a dead giveaway, and how “but it’s in the song” is not the excuse you think it is. This part is blunt, unapologetic, and very clear—because clarity matters.
Then, Dear Black People:
This isn’t a lecture—it’s more like tips and tricks for white people, with a side of self-awareness, humor, and cheese. Yes, cheese. We talk about tokenism, curiosity versus ignorance, food, culture, and what it actually looks like when someone is trying to learn instead of perform.
As always, I bring my background into it—widow of a cross-dressing alcoholic, survivor of a brain blood clot, 25 years in accounting and operations, BA in psychology, and a lifelong love of patterns, categories, and calling bullshit when I see it.
This episode is funny, uncomfortable, honest, and very Lynn Logic.
If you’re still whispering the word “black,” you probably need this episode.
