Jeff Butts of The Mac Observer is back to share the details of building a Hackintosh, something many of us think about but never do. He discusses his practical motivation for taking on the project, why he names his computers, and how and why he picks his hardware options. We find out this isn’t a project for beginners, and that there is significant time and cost involved, but none of that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do it. Jeff discusses the capabilities of his finished product, and shares some resources for doing it yourself.

Jeff Butts was a nerd long before they got their revenge. He’s been voiding warranties since the early 1980s, when he took apart his uncle’s 286 to try coaxing a bit more power out of the Hercules graphics controller.
