Ted Landau has his eye on an Apple Watch, but which one? He tells us why he’s decided to be an early adopter, picks his favorite, and talks about the influence of fashion on his choice…and maybe yours. Ted also has some thoughts on the new MacBook’s audience and why there has been such a strong reaction to the USB-C choice of connectivity, and why HBO Now may finally be the break from cable we’ve all been waiting for.

Jeff Carlson and Take Control Books have published Apple Watch: A Take Control Crash Course, an ebook to help you learn about Apple Watch now, and find out more once it becomes available. Jeff explains why they chose the new Crash Course format for this book, what is in this pre-Apple Watch release version, and what you can expect to find once he has an opportunity to work with his very own watch. The discussion goes deeper than that, though. Jeff and host Chuck Joiner get into discussions of style vs. function, whether Apple Watch is a computer or not, and much more.

There is lots to like about all the new networking capabilities and functions of iOS 8; Glenn talks about his favorites, what works, and what you should consider “works in progress.” Fitting it naturally with networking is the subject of security. Glenn covers not just the technical side of things, but also the intersection of security and society, and issues surrounding your rights to privacy.

Sergey Kurdyashov and Josh Brown of Softorino talk about the development of WALTR, a simple but powerful utility to load a wide variety of audio and video formats on your iPhone and iPad quickly and without transcoding. The difference is that those files then appear in the native music and video apps, exactly as if they were natively supported. MKV, AVI, FLAC and all those other hard-to-deal with formats load and play easily. Sergey and Josh reveal the origin of the name, discuss how they discovered 4K video could be played on the newest iPhones, and why their intro video is a template for other developers to follow.
