The well's gone dry, and Ray starts using one that he found on the property, inadvertently sickening anybody who drinks from it. In order to access clean water, Amanda goes to a a nearby stream, where she's kidnapped by Otis and Annie O. They take her back to their farm and their mysterious leader, Hangnail.

On a desperate mission to find food, Amanda and Timmy Carter are attacked by two massive, rolling spiked balls. They manage to escape, only to get caught by Otis and Annie O, henchman of the mysterious Hangnail.

Hey, y’all. It’s Amanda again. Amanda May Jett. Now that the Hives are all gone and the Macks are burned to dust, I thought that maybe life would have gotten a little easier out here on the farm. But the next few months brings its own set of problems, including blizzards, banshees, and rolling balls of death. 

Not to mention the appearance of Otis and Annie O and their humdinger of a boss, Hangnail.

Fall was bad enough, but it’s going to be a beast of a winter.
