A military coup is underway in Madagascar after nationwide protests triggered by chronic power and water outages, poverty and government corruption. The protests have been led by Gen Z Madagascar, an amorphous group of young people inspired by the Gen Z movement in Nepal. Now the army has switched sides to join the movement and the President has fled the country.
