  • maDCap with AlunaGeorge
AlunaGeorge is a British duo currently electrifying the music world with a unique combination of accessible, compelling vocals and head-bobbing production. Aluna Francis and George Reid first met in a cafe, and their first "deep" conversation consisted of a tea-making symposium. Now, AlunaGeorge is touring the world in support of their stellar debut album "Body Music," and they spent some time with maDCap's David & Dan ahead of a sold out show at U Street Music Hall in Washington DC.

  • maDCap with 'Muscle Shoals' director Greg "Freddy" Camalier
On the banks of the Tennessee River, Rick Hall founded a now-legendary recording studio where he cut some of the most soulful hits of the 1960s and 70s. The story of Muscle Shoals had previously been known only to music aficionados and those who lived it, but a new film is finally telling this amazing tale to the world. During this year's AFI DOCS festival, maDCap's Daniel Bloom & David Ross caught up with Greg "Freddy" Camalier for a deep conversation about soul music, FAME Studios, and his directorial debut 'Muscle Shoals.'
The film opens September 27th in New York City (and on iTunes & On Demand,) October 4th in Chicago, October 11th in Nashville, Los Angeles & Philadelphia, and October 18th in Washington DC. Watch http://twitter.com/madcapdc and http://fb.com/madcapdc for our announcement of the DC viewing party at West End Cinema.

  • Made in America Festival Preview
Published in 1835, Alexis de Tocqueville's "Democracy in America" coined the phrase "The Great American Experiment." Whether judged to be a success or failure, one thing we do know is music, and thanks to the folks at Budweiser, our nation's birthplace will soon host a joyous celebration. On a parkway named for founding father Benjamin Franklin, the second annual 'Made in America' festival will commence on Labor Day weekend, and maDCap has a preview of some of the highlights, including: Beyonce, Deadmau5, Calvin Harris, Kendrick Lamar and many more.

  • maDCap Trillectro Preview
Dan & David, salt & caramel, electronica & hip hop: pairings whose time has come. The second annual Trillectro festival happens on August 17 at the Half Street Fairgrounds across from Nationals Park. The concert extravaganza was conceived by DC to BC, a group of young visionaries who decided that Washington's disparate party scenes had been apart for long enough. Combining stellar electronic acts like NADASTROM, Alex Young and Tittsworth with top quality hip hop talent like Wale, Phil Adé & Travis Scott, Trillectro offers the best of both worlds to a unified audience of party people. DJ Carnage personifies both genres and stands as an example of a 21st century artist who perfectly centers the Trillectro venn-diagram. Dan & David preview the festival and share tracks from all the artists mentioned in addition to Misun, Shy Glizzy, DJ Sliink, Goldroom, & Casey Veggies.
