If you study enough about hospitality, you will come across different experiences that shape your understanding about how it works best and how you intend on things going. But perhaps a better thing to do is to just simply invite Jesus as a fellow guest to the table. Allow His kindness and love for the stranger to infiltrate your heart and intentions. Imagine a table with the Savior of all mankind, looking into the eyes of your guests and expressing His feelings about their value. Today's message will challenge us to be Jesus' representative as we reach out to our guests.

How we see our neighbors is what forms our identity. Today we will discuss how Jesus saw people and formed the identity of the church that was growing in connection and growing in number. With Jesus, there is no ordinary meal. Throughout the Bible, whenever you share a table with Jesus, he turns times of fellowship into moments of formation. In Luke 14 Jesus challenges a group of people‘s view of the table. As we read this text together ask yourself these questions, “If your life was depicted as a party who would be the invited guest?” AND “What might Jesus be teaching me if I view the table not as performance but calling?”

The way that God wanted to make Himself known on this earth was by “dwelling.” The idea of dwelling means to immerse and submerge oneself, although temporary, into a place where caring, nearing, and sharing exists. Today we will look at God‘s instructions to the exiles in Jeremiah and the very popular story of the good Samaritan to understand what it really looks like to dwell in the way God wants us to dwell.

We think of home in many ways, but where do we get our understanding of what home really is? Is it Nationality? Is it a street address? Ancestry? Or is it the comfort of knowing who we are, to whom we belong, and what our way of life says about us? These questions can all be answered when we go back and look at what God really intended home to teach us; that we have an identity and a community and that together, we battle our enemy and provide a safe haven for those in need of hope.
