Disclaimer: Jennifer and I are pro-choice and this is a pro-choice, feminist podcast. We support Roe, all that it stands for. We stand with people who want and need access to abortion. We believe abortion is healthcare. We stand for people’s rights to make the choices that they need and want to make for their lives when they need to make them without interference from outside parties. If someone wants an abortion, for whatever reason, they should be able to get it. Period.
Reflecting on the imminent demise of Roe v. Wade, Raquel and Jennifer discuss the effects of the loss of abortion rights. Below are links to the Politico article regarding the leaked Supreme Court draft opinion overturning Roe as well as links to a number of other articles that speak to this enormous issue. Also included is a (not exhaustive) list of organizations to support in this fight.

Listen in as Raquel and Jennifer speak with Haley Shapley.
Haley Shapley is an award-winning journalist, a certified group fitness instructor, and the author of Strong Like Her: A Celebration of Rule Breakers, History Makers, and Unstoppable Athletes, which traces the previously untold history of women who defied convention in pursuit of physical strength. She's contributed to Teen Vogue, Shape, Self, Shondaland, Forbes Health, and hundreds of other publications. When she's not writing, she's usually working toward a fitness goal; past pursuits have included running a marathon, riding her bike 200 miles, and competing in a bodybuilding show.
“When women shed the cultural norms surrounding their appearance and pursue physical goals, they develop an incredible toolkit that serves them in all arenas of their life, well beyond the field, court, or gym.”

Listen in as Raquel and Jennifer speak with author Ryan Rae Harbuck about her memoir When I Grow Up I Want To Be A Chair. A paralyzing car accident in her teens left Ryan with a new life to build. Rarely looking back, she became a swim coach and a high school teacher, she traveled to India for experimental stem cell treatment, she fought hard to make the Paralympic swim team, she even became a mom. With so many stories to tell and lessons to learn, Ryan did the only thing she could: she wrote a book.
“Everyone has a chair. That thing you are bound to or unwillingly defines you. An element that makes you different from the rest. One that you have little choice in the matter. What’s YOUR chair?”
