# Magician On Duty Journey Series: Miles Lyon

Welcome back to the Magician On Duty Journey Series.

For this edition, we welcome Dallas-based DJ and selector Miles Lyon, a dedicated explorer of the melodic, hypnotic and progressive side of electronic music.

Miles Lyon’s journey began in the late 2000s, when he became captivated by the rich textures and high-energy pulse of Trance. Inspired by the sounds and energy of OTC sets, his musical direction gradually shifted away from peak-time floor stompers, moving instead toward the deeper, more evocative selections traditionally heard as the night begins to unfold.

In 2015, a move to a much smaller city for graduate school placed him in an environment where an electronic music scene was virtually non-existent. Rather than stepping away from music, Miles immersed himself deeper into the art of DJing, using the isolation as an opportunity to refine his craft and explore the melodic and hypnotic sounds that have become central to his approach.

His sets are built around patience, progression and the subtle art of letting a journey reveal itself over time.

In 2019, Miles founded Shades, a mix series dedicated to exploring the ever-evolving landscape of House, Techno and Trance, further establishing his commitment to digging beneath the surface and discovering music that rewards the long listen.

For this Journey Series episode, Miles Lyon brings that same philosophy into the mix, delivering a carefully constructed passage through sound, rhythm and emotion.

VRIDIAN is an electronic music project based out of New Delhi, India. Crafting together melancholic melodies and driving grooves, this project is the brainchild of music producer Vir RC.

Having explored a wide spectrum of dance music since its start with Siddhant Jain in 2017, VRIDIAN now hovers everywhere in, around and between free form Electronica, Deep House and Melodic Techno. Infatuated and charmed by dance culture from early on, time on either side of the DJ console is of equal importance.

During its brief stint in Vancouver, the project became a resident at the city's acclaimed after-hours nightclub ‘Gorg-O-Mish’ apart from playing at various renowned venues in the area code. Upon his return, VRIDIAN has covered ground across India featuring regularly on club and festival bills .

The project is slowly building a diversified musical catalogue. Inspired by a versatile range of musical influences and a sure-shot passion for the craft of (appropriate/situational) DJing, VRIDIAN is also striving in his time in the studio with releases on international imprints such as Manjumasi, Traum Schallplatten, Nie Wieder Schlafen & Qilla Records. His recent releases have also started to appear in the sets / spotify playlists of international stalwarts such as Atish, Frankey & Sandrino and many more.

TanKir (Tanya Kiryutina) is an Atlanta-based DJ rocking a large variety of sounds on the house and trance spectrum.Throughout her life, Tanya was passionate about many forms of music. She sang since she was a baby and was raised with classical training in violin and piano. Growing up, she also performed in orchestras, choirs, and rock/metal bands.

Tanya began to deeply immerse herself in electronic music in 2016. Her explorations started with trance and later expanded to include deeper sounds with minimal, melodic, progressive, ethnic, and tribal elements.

In 2018 during her second semester in graduate school, she founded her Increasing Entropy podcast on SoundCloud to share her love of electronic music with the world.
