God has put all things under the feet of his Messiah- he gave him to be head over all things to the church. What does this mean for us- In order to grasp this, and its happy consequences, we must undersand Christ's divine appointment as God's gracious gift, appreciate Christ's universal reign over the entire creation, and see Christ's particular concern for his beloved people.

True Christians do and should devote themselves together to the divinely-appointed means of grace given to sustain and strengthen their souls. The primary means of grace are the ministry of the Word, the ordinances, and prayers. These are to be considered as gracious, sovereign, ordinary, regular, effectual, congregational, essential and precious. We should approach them with faith and with hope and with love.
