Main Event Marks

If you're a long-time listener to the podcast, you'll know that the Marks (Troy & Greg) don't like ECW. However, this show broke the mold. This may be the greatest top-to-bottom effort Extreme Championship Wrestling ever put forth. From Credible vs Lynn to Awesome vs Tanaka to RVD & Sabu vs Shinzaki & Hayabusa to Taz vs Bigelow, it's an amazing card. The best part? New Jack isn't in the ring until the very end, and only for a short time! Not to speak ill of the dead...but you get it. Of course, this is an ECW show, so of course, there's some swearing, talk about porn, and just all-around strange topics brought up.

It's the Match Made in Heaven and the Match Made in Hell! The Macho Man and Miss Elizabeth have their wedding in the ring to close this show and the actual main event is Hulk Hogan and The Ultimate Warrior taking on The Triangle of Terror (Sgt. Slaughter, Gen. Adnan, & Col. Mustafa) in a Handicap Match! The wrestling world was a little weird in 1991. This show in particular would be a turning point for the WWF where the Ultimate Warrior would get fired directly after his match, the Macho Man was asked to step back into the ring, and many feuds were shaken up. Also on this show was the heating up of a feud between the Legion of Doom and the Natural Disasters, the Nasty Boys also defending their WWF Tag-Team Titles against the LOD, and The Big Boss Man battling it out with The Mountie to see who will spend a night in jail!

WCW was a coffin on roller skates at this point and had been for quite a while. While this didn't win any Worst Major Wrestling Show of the Year awards, it was certainly in contention. We have an ROTC (Rip of the Camouflage) match where a woman fakes a miscarriage, The Demon and Sting wrestle for less than a minute, Great Muta is part of the Dark Carnival, Goldberg refuses to follow the script, and Vince Russo's fingerprints are dirtying this entire show up! What the hell have the Marks (Troy & Greg) gotten themselves into with this review?

It's been an entire decade since this fateful event! This was the night CM Punk's contract ran out at midnight and he walked out with the WWE Title. At least...in storyline. In 2011, CM Punk was the leader of the New Nexus after former members Wade Barrett, Justin Gabriel, and Heath Slater went from Raw to SmackDown to form The Corre with Ezekiel Jackson. After dropping the infamous Pipebomb Promo on an episode of Raw, Punk announced that his contract would be coming to an end on the same night he got a "title opportunity" against WWE Champion, John Cena. That night just so happened to be at Money in the Bank in Punk's hometown of Chicago. The match was great and the atmosphere was electric! Also taking place this night was two Money in the Bank Ladder matches--one for Raw and one for SmackDown. Relive the magic of this event with the Marks, Troy & Greg!

1995 gets a lot of guff from wrestling fans, us include, and for good reason. The entire year throughout ECW, WCW, and WWF was completely horrible. "Big Daddy Cool" Diesel, however, gets a lot of the blame from the wrestling community for awful crowds, awful numbers, and awful shows while he reigned as WWF Champion throughout the year. Because of this, the Marks (Troy & Greg) take a look at all of Diesel's matches, storylines, appearances, and more throughout 1995 to see if they can justify shifting some of that blame off of Big D's shoulders.

It's been 10 years since this pay-per-view took place! 2001 was a weird, weird year in the wrestling world. Both ECW and WCW finally shut their doors and their properties were bought up by Vince McMahon and the WWF. In storyline, WCW was owned by Shane McMahon and ECW was owned by Stephanie McMahon with Paul Heyman by her side. This began the infamous Invasion Storyline, where ECW and WCW teamed up to take on the WWF. No one could trust anybody as alliances would shift from the World Wrestling Federation to The Alliance, and this show is no different. The Marks (Troy & Greg) run down the highest-grossing pay-per-view in WWF history (outside of WrestleManias) from a decade ago!

By the summer of 2011, Immortal had taken over TNA and Fortune had went full-on babyface. Abyss was the attack dog for Immortal to take down the X-Division, and he won the title, recristening it The X-Treme Title. Now, it's up to Brian Kendrick to redeem the X-Division at their own pay-per-view! Also, AJ Styles had been teasing a big match, which everyone thought would be a rematch from Unbreakable 2005. However, he left out Samoa Joe and instead challenged Christopher Daniels to a match in the main event of the yearly X-Division showcase. We also get to see an Ultimate X match and RVD vs Jerry Lynn for the first time since ECW closed! The Marks (Troy & Greg) also discuss the passing of "Macho Man" Randy Savage, the recent passing of The Patriot, CM Punk possibly leaving the WWE and making homophobic comments, and Scott Hall being arrested for being drunk...again.

If you don't know this show, you're either not a wrestling fan or you just started watching. Bash at the Beach 1996 had a pretty good undercard, including Rey Mysterio Jr. vs Psychosis and Dean Malenko vs Disco Inferno, but the entire night was building up to the main event. Scott Hall and Kevin Nash recently made the jump from the WWF to WCW, shocking the wrestling world, and then they teased a third man to join their crew. Sting, Lex Luger, and Randy Savage led the charge against The Outsiders in the 6-man main event, but the question remained...who is that third man!? Troy & Greg talk about history in the making on this show, along with all the news and notes from the wrestling world leading up to the show!

Aces & Eights were running the show in TNA in 2013. Bully Ray had revealed himself as the mastermind of the entire operation, multiple members of the TNA roster defected, and no one knew if they could trust the newly returned, dark, brooding AJ Styles. The only person willing to stand tall for truth, justice, and TNA against Bully Ray and the Aces & Eights was Sting. Meanwhile, Kurt Angle sets out to stop any momentum AJ Styles may have dead in its tracks. On top of that, Joseph Park claims he hasn't seen his brother, Abyss, yet whenever he bleeds, he psyches out an a rage similar to that of Abyss. Could that spell DOOMSDAY for D-Von's TV Title reign? In the Knockouts Division, Taryn Terrell has shed her referee stripes to compete against Gail Kim in a Last Knockouts Standing match. Plus, the TNA Tag Titles are on the line in a 4-way elimination tag match, the X-Division Title is defended in Ultimate X, and much more!SUBSCRIBE TO FUBOTV: fubo.tv/welcome?irad=34GET YOUR SPORTS SWAG ON FANATICS: fanatics.ncw6.net/jxzKMLISTEN EVERY WEDNESDAY AT 8PM EST: unhingedsn.com/FOLLOW US ON TWITTER & INSTAGRAM: @MainEvent_MarksFOLLOW US ON FACEBOOK: facebook.com/maineventmarkspodCHECK OUT OUR MERCHANDISE: MainEventMarks.redbubble.comEMAIL US AT: [email protected] FOR US ON YOUTUBE AT: Main Event Marks

For this bonus show, we bring you one of the worst pay-per-views in history. Vince Russo and Eric Bischoff were both steering the ship in World Championship Wrestling, but Russo was hard at work, steering it into the nearest iceberg he could find. Hollywood Hogan was locked into a feud with Billy Kidman, Booker T was G.I. Bro, the Misfits In Action were running wild, Disqo was embarrassing himself with the Filthy Animals, Jeff Jarrett was on his "reign of terror," DDP was being turned on every single month by everyone in his life, the New Blood was running roughshod over everyone and everything, and there's a "surprise" turn/swerve to close the show that may have been one of the dumbest things in the history of WCW. This is only a taste of the insanity of this show! Bonus to this show: Someone gets set on fire and are GONE FOREVAH, BRO! No, but seriously. Someone gets set on fire.SUBSCRIBE TO FUBOTV: fubo.tv/welcome?irad=34GET YOUR SPORTS SWAG ON FANATICS: fanatics.ncw6.net/jxzKMLISTEN EVERY WEDNESDAY AT 8PM EST: unhingedsn.com/FOLLOW US ON TWITTER & INSTAGRAM: @MainEvent_MarksFOLLOW US ON FACEBOOK: facebook.com/maineventmarkspodCHECK OUT OUR MERCHANDISE: MainEventMarks.redbubble.comEMAIL US AT: [email protected] FOR US ON YOUTUBE AT: Main Event Marks
