  • Take The Garbage Out!

Thank you for all of your support. Please let us know what you think about our podcast and what topic you may want to hear from us. Leaders, Lead Well!

Folks, it is garbage day. So is tomorrow, and the next day, and so forth. Does that mean taking the garbage out every day? In a matter of speaking, yes! We are referring to the trash, noise, distractions, and non-value added stuff we collect daily in our heads. The more we collect, the less bandwidth we have. The less bandwidth we have, the more stressed we become. The more stressed we become, the less effective we are. The less effective we are, the more we negatively impact our teams. You get the picture.
So, how do we take the garbage out?

Join Rich and Maikel on this episode of Mainline Executive Coaching ACT and find out how you can start getting rid of the garbage.

  • How Can You Tell When Leaders Are Telling You The Truth?

Thank you for all of your support. Please let us know what you think about our podcast and what topic you may want to hear from us. Leaders, Lead Well!

In the old west town of Bannack, Montana, during the 1860s, people decided to take back their town from the dishonest, stealing, and evil people that were there. The term 3-7-77 was painted on the doors of the bad folks which meant two things.
First, it meant you have 3 hours, 7 minutes, and 77 seconds to get out of town or you faced the consequences of the second meaning of 3-7-77 which are 3 feet wide, 7 feet deep, and 77 inches long; the dimensions of a grave. The bad guys got the message pretty fast and left town even faster. However, and no surprise here, those who pushed their luck found out that the town folks were not kidding around when the time wound down.

Fast forward to today and no matter where you look be it politics, organizations, social media, media outlets, or social media, we are surrounded by dishonesty. The constant barrage of lies, misinformation, and lack of accountability has led to a culture of destruction, theft, depression, and violence. The prevalence of dishonesty and its impact on society is mind numbing!

The problem is that the lines have become so blurred, that it is difficult to tell when leaders are telling the truth and to what end are they being held accountable. Does this mean that all leaders are dishonest?

     Absolutely not!

There are some great leaders in every walk of life that we must get behind and follow. However, it is critical to know who those great leaders are and which ones we need to watch out for.

Rich and Maikel discuss the impact of dishonest leadership in this episode of Mainline Executive Coaching ACT.

  • Are You Being Gaslighted by a Narcissistic Boss?

Thank you for all of your support. Please let us know what you think about our podcast and what topic you may want to hear from us. Leaders, Lead Well!

Have you had a boss that seems to go over the top to gain your trust or confidence only to see that relationship evolve into something toxic? Gaslighting is a form of psychological and emotional abuse that involves distorting the truth to gain your trust and confidence. This turns into questioning someone’s credibility, minimizing or denying things that happened, or leaving out key facts. These just a few examples of gaslighting tactics.

Gaslighting typically begins in the devaluing stage of the relationship, after the narcissist has used love-bombing and other tactics to gain your trust.

Rich and Maikel unveil the tactics used by narcissistic bosses, and how to recognize and protect yourself against these evil tactics on Mainline Executive Coaching ACT.

  • How to Deal With a Narcissistic Boss

Thank you for all of your support. Please let us know what you think about our podcast and what topic you may want to hear from us. Leaders, Lead Well!

Narcissistic bosses tend to have all-or-nothing thinking, so they may think that you are out to get them if you disagree or challenge them. Because they are very insecure, they see any behavior like that as a threat. They can start to create cliques and isolate and bully certain employees, even gaslighting them into believing false things. They may even increase the workload for those employees and force them to quit or want to leave.

Having a narcissist as a boss is always a negative thing because of the psychological warfare they use to ensure their position at work and garner the admiration of those around them. So how do you deal with these toxic bosses?

Rich and Maikel talk about dealing with narcissistic bosses on this episode of Mainline Executive Coaching ACT.

Ahhh, the narcissistic boss. The ones that always need to be the center of attention, flashy, and arrogant, must be constantly praised for their work and be seen as highly competent. For them, the title and all the bells and whistles that come with it are more important than actually being able to do the job or lead their people. They can take a bad day and turn it into a world-class train wreck and then turn around and blame you for the mess.

So how do you recognize and deal with the narcissistic boss?

join us as Rich and Maikel unpack 15 signs of a narcissistic boss and how to deal with them in this episode of Mainline Executive Coaching ACT.

  • The Mystery of Leadership - Part 1

Thank you for all of your support. Please let us know what you think about our podcast and what topic you may want to hear from us. Leaders, Lead Well!

Versatility is the master capability for leading in a VUCA world — that is, one characterized by volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity. We define versatility as the ability to read and respond to change with a wide repertoire of complementary skills and behaviors.

However, versatility in leaders is rare.

In a case study by Kasier Leadership Solutions, 24,000 leaders were assessed over six years using a 360-degree tool they designed. The outcome was that less than 10% of those leaders tested had the skills and capabilities to be effective leaders in a VUCA world. That means that more than 21,000 of those leaders were not prepared for the business challenges of today. However, the skills and talents to lead are not as mysterious as some would think they are.

in our 300th episode, Rich and Maikel discuss those leadership styles that help leaders be capable of effective leadership in a VUCA world. Join us on this episode of Mainline Executive Coaching ACT.

We also discuss why it is critical to understand the leader's style in your organization and how to complement that within the team.

  • Review of Tom Brady on The Art of Leading Teammates: Part 1

Thank you for all of your support. Please let us know what you think about our podcast and what topic you may want to hear from us. Leaders, Lead Well!

Love or hate him, there is no denying that Tom Brady is one of the greatest quarterbacks ever. He holds several records as a quarterback but what about his ability to lead a team? So often we obsess about who is the “greatest of all time,” who is most responsible for a win, or what players or coaches a team might add next season to become even better. What can get lost in this way of thinking is that leaders don’t accomplish anything by themselves. In fact, nothing of significance in life is achieved alone.

In an article published in Harvard Business Review, Tom talks in-depth about the importance of being a team player.

Rich and Maikel pass this topic around in this multi-part series on Tom Brady and the Art of Leading Teammates in this Mainline Executive Coaching ACT episode.

  • The Bottom line of Poor Leadership

Thank you for all of your support. Please let us know what you think about our podcast and what topic you may want to hear from us. Leaders, Lead Well!

We often discuss the benefits of great leadership in organizations. How great leaders impact great culture, employee retention, engagement, and success. But what about the true impact of poor leadership and what is the real cost?

Studies show that the negative impact of poor leadership goes far beyond just a toxic culture or unengaged employees. The real cost can show up in unhappiness in life, not reaching full potential, poor health, and even death! Yes, studies show that executives are  "52% more likely to die earlier" due to stress.

The bottom line is that the cost of poor leadership impacts far more than just the numbers. You may think you are above this; however, statistics show you are more likely to be one of those impacted.

Rich and Maikel discuss why poor leadership costs far more than just the bottom line on this episode of Mainline Executive Coaching ACT.

  • Executive Coaching - Not Just For Sissies Anymore

Thank you for all of your support. Please let us know what you think about our podcast and what topic you may want to hear from us. Leaders, Lead Well!

There is a lot stigma still surrounding executive coaching. Almost like a topic discussed in the darkest corner out of earshot from everyone else. Places where you would hear, "Don't say anything but I think Bob is getting coaching," or "Can you hook me up with a good coach?" The genuine fear is that if your peers found out, you'd be thrown out of the good ole boys club for certain or branded mediocre at best. All of which is NONSENSE!

The fact of the matter is leadership coaching has become critical in today’s modern working world. Industries and technology are evolving fast, and it’s important for companies to continue hiring and developing top talent to keep pace, not to mention retain that talent. Coaching has a proven track record for success with a measurable ROI.

Alexandra Popkova, PCC, is a results-driven OD executive with +10 years of international experience. Alexandra has a proven track record of effective team leadership, robust client engagement, and strategic planning across diverse regions including Latin America, the Caribbean, the Middle East, India, and Russia.

Alexandra joins Rich, and Maikel as we discuss why executive coaching ain't just for sissies anymore on this episode of Mainline Executive Coaching ACT.
