He also discussed the importance of safety and health for all attendees, the ease of access to defibrillators, and the importance of deciding whether to use an emergency room or urgent care. Then Gail Nohr with Veterans 1st of NEW and Paula Jolly with Mandolin Foundation are in to talk about both organizations. Veterans 1st is working on building a group of tiny homes for veterans in need, and the Mandolin Foundation, along with Amanda’s House, provides safe and supportive transitional housing for women recovering from trauma, mental health, and substance use.

We’re also excited to chat with Kayla Karius, Head Coach for UWGB Women’s Basketball. The team is taking on the Oakland Golden Grizzlies in the Horizon League Tournament tonight. She also shares that they have a team grade point average of 3.85, an amazing fact that these players are also competing in academics. We love it!

Tom says that with the temperature swings we’ve been seeing, the ice conditions get treacherous in just a short period of time. They call it “honeycombing.”, and it makes the ice extremely dangerous!

This week is also Veterans’ Week and Chocolate Chip Cookie Week. More talk about Lent, and Pączkis somehow rolls into whether or not anyone likes prunes. That turns into a Quick Poll and we find out that 75% of Maino & The Mayor listeners do NOT like prunes. Then, another poll was conducted on the type of tattoo Jim should get. The foundation’s current focus is to build funds that will offer grant opportunities to first responders who are taking steps towards caring for their mental health and well-being.
