  • Apple Pie, Cookies & Merlot

“Cheese Curd Nick,” aka Nick Slupski, plays Santa Claus by bringing in fresh-baked apple pie and cookies to the guys. How did we get to be so lucky? Then, the guys talk about their favorite Christmas movies. Nick says “White Christmas,” Maino says “Die Hard,” and Jim says “Sound of Music.” Then Civic Meteorologist Brittney Merlot joins to share some holiday cheer with her forecast! A little snow and ice for Christmas, but warmer temperatures and melting snow by the weekend.

  • Weekly Best of Maino and the Mayor for Dec 21

It was 80 years ago this week that the Battle of The Bulge took place in WWII, and 100-year-old veteran Jack Kraszewski joined the guys with memories of that very day. Not only did he serve our country, but he also came back and became a cheesemaker and later a brewer of Schlitz beer in Milwaukee. A wonderful gentleman that we are honored to have met. Then another guy we are honored to know, Ace Champion, joins to talk about a special event he has coming up this week. “Vibrations Of The Earth” takes place in Manitowoc this Friday evening.

  • Football & LIVE Tunes!

It’s Friday, and that means it’s Football Friday from Burkel’s One Block Over! This week we feature former Green Bay quarterback Randy Wright! Randy always takes a very analytical view of the game and can talk about what the current team needs to do to make it to the playoffs and maybe even the big game! Plus, Friday means that we feature music in the Heights Pub & Parlor LIVE Music series! This week its the very unique and cool sounds of Charlie Urick! This morning he’s a one-man show, but he sounds like an entire group. Smooth and soulful this morning, his performances can also kick a little! Definitely a great way to wrap up a hectic week heading into the holidays! Plus Ashely from Heights stops in to let us know about the great specials and LIVE music they have planned over the next week! And our great friend Dennis Peters from the Glam Band is in to help host the final hour of the week!

  • Bellin Sports Medicine & Hybrid Wrestling

Our own Santa Claus, Mark Husen from Bellin Sports Medicine, joins the team and brings us special cookies called Pizelles. They were originally made in Southern Italy, and the name comes from the Italian word for round and flat. While the conversation focuses on the holidays, Mark does share some tips for physical activity in this snowy weather. Then TJ Bowles and Adam Grace from Hybrid Wrestling Entertainment join Jim and John to promote tonight’s Brewery Bash 2 event at The Barrel Haus at Badger State Brewing. When we asked TJ which of the guys would be the “villain” in the wrestling ring, he immediately said “The Mayor”! We love it!

  • TGIF!

After the storm, the guys start discussing shopping for the holiday season. Maino had a situation yesterday where he was “the guy” who stopped the progression in the checkout line. One of his items didn’t have a price tag, so the clerk had to look for one with a tag. The rest of the checkout line glared at him. We also have another example of the difference between Jim and John: where they like to shop. Jim? Macy’s. John? Menard’s. Can you say “exactly??” Then Lisa Hale from NEWisco Weekend joins the guys to talk about this weekend’s show, and they discuss Christmas in the bayou and least favorite Christmas songs.

We wake up Coach Tod Kowalczyk in Toledo. He’s the Men’s Head Basketball Coach at the Univerity of Toledo, but he also coached at UWGB. We get his take on what it might take to get a winning team in town and what can be done to drive more fans to the games. (Just an FYI: Maino introduced Coach to his wife). Then our good friend Gizmo stops by to let us know about a show he’s got coming up this week, and shares some holiday magic with us! Then Ben VerGiesen, a designer with Lewis Rose Design in DePere, visits to talk a little bit about designs and some of his trips out west to get inspiration.

  • A Storm Is A Brewin'

The guys talk about whether or not we’ll see 6+” of snow today. Brittney Merlot is excited about it. Still, we’re not quite as enthused. Then, it’s a Trucker Thursday. Maino tells a story about buying a CB back in the day and hearing “lot lizards” trying to drum up business. Then, the boys debate on what’s going on with UWGB Men’s Basketball. It’s been a rough season. Maino asks the question: If I bought a book for my son and read it before I give it to him, is it considered regifting? A quick poll shows that the majority of our listeners do NOT believe it is a true regifting situation. What do you think?

  • Ice Safety & Automobile Gallery

Tom Drzewiecki from Bayside Ice & Marine Recovery joins the show to talk about ice safety this year and how to stay safe if you decide to go out on the ice. His advice includes getting a float suit, having your ice picks, taking someone out with you, ensuring you have an air horn and whistle, and checking in with loved ones throughout the day. Tom also says with the forecast calling for snow and warmer temperatures, ice conditions will be sketchy, at best. Then Darrel Burnett with the Automobile Gallery in Green Bay joins with a little holiday story behind a new exhibit at the gallery. A vehicle exactly like the Oldsmobile in the movie “A Christmas Story” is on display throughout the holiday season.
