Maino and the Mayor episodes

  • Neighborhood Focus (Hour 3)

Every week we're lucky to welcome some of the great reporters from NBC26 in our neighborhood focus. The guys start the segment talking about food and culture in Northeast Wisconsin. Eventually, Nina is allowed to talk about one of the stories that NBC26 is working on. October is Manufacturing Month, and NBC26 is telling the story of companies all over the area that make international products. Then, local author Aaron Qualio joins Jim, John, and Nina in the studio to talk about some of the books he's written. He writes fiction rooted in local history and local stories. Click HERE to find his books. Then, show favorites Peter and Tracy Flucke swing in with their tandem bike to let us know they're on their way up to Door County for a few days.

  • Food, Music & Service (Hour 2)

Nick Slupski sticks around to talk a bit about tailgating around the country, from Green Bay to Kansas City and all over. We're pretty sure that Nick's favorite place to tailgate may be KC. We may have misunderstood him. Then singer/songwriter Jessie G. joins us to tell us more about an Operation Song event at the Epic Center in Green Bay. The event is coming up on the 3rd, and will include music and stories with Operation Song®! Nashville writers round featuring country radio hits and performances of songs written by local veterans who have participated in the Operation Song® program, alongside some of Nashville's most prominent songwriters. The event includes a Live Auction from which proceeds go directly to Operation Song® programing for veterans and their families.

  • Tuesday Meanderings 10/1/2024 (Hour 1)

John makes a significant announcement: he's lost several pounds in the last few weeks by creating his own miracle drink. It includes Ka'Chava, bananas, ice, whey powder, and Tang. Jim and Todd try it. Jim's out. Todd said it was "okay" but had an aftertaste. How do we celebrate both Jim and John's weight loss? Nick Slupski is in, and he brings in a Serbian delight: pepper sandwiches and a Serbian sausage that is simply out of this world! Plus, it's President Carter's 100th birthday, so Jim brings in peanut butter & jelly sandwiches. And it's Julie Andrews' birthday. So we play many tunes from "Sound of Music" specifically for Jim.

  • Another Title & Community Living Room (Hour 3)

He's joined us before, and we're glad to have him back again. Tom Miazga just won another title! Tom found his passion for sport in the pool. Miazga was introduced to the Paralympic Organization his freshman year of high school. He quickly gained international experience as a member of the 2007 Para Pan-Am Team in Rio de Janiero, Brazil. He's such an inspiration, we're so glad to call him a friend. Then Lynn McLaughlin & Karen Iverson-Riggers are in-studio to talk about Community Living Room. The Community Living Room is a non-clinical, person-centered environment for people seeking social connection and emotional support and is focused on present-moment connection and support.

  • Monday Morning Meanderings (Hour 1)

Monday Meanderings start with discussions about the game yesterday—lots of armchair quarterback thoughts on that one. Jim talks about some things he was up to over the weekend: Autoberfest at the Auto Gallery, Seroogy's 125th anniversary, and...apple picking! Then Brittney Merlot joins us to let us know we'll see a cold front coming through that will bring cooler temperatures to NEWisco. The good news is if you're waiting on brighter colors on the trees, the cooler temperatures will help get that done.

  • Weekly Best of Maino and the Mayor for Sep 28

Darrel Burnett is in to talk about this weekend's event at the Automobile Gallery in Green Bay. Some of the conversation turns to working in radio. Todd throws on some Orleans - "Love Takes Time," and Darrel takes a run of "Walking the Ramp" (talking up the intro of a song and being done before the singers start singing). He does a stellar job. Then Karl Winter stops by for our NBC26 Neighborhood Focus segment. Karl shares some of the stories he's been following around Lambeau and the draft, but he also talks about his time running cross country at Pepperdine.

  • TGIF Meanderings for 9/27/24 (Hour 1)

It's FRIDAY, meaning it's almost a "Free-For-All" for the guys. Off the rails within the first 10 minutes. We talk gambling and bets for the football games this weekend. We also spoke about Maino's doctor's appointment yesterday. His weight, blood pressure, and cholesterol are all DOWN! Great job! The show goes completely Off The Rails when the guys try to run what feels like five contests at once. Mark Husen from Bellin swings in to rescue Todd. (He also brought in breakfast).
