  • Weekly Best of Maino and the Mayor for Aug 31

Wow. It's a crazy Friday. The conversation starts with John claiming he was a firefighter in Negaunee, Michigan. As the story continues, we learn that he filled in, occasionally, and it sounds as though he never actually made it to a fire because he was always late. Maino also tells us about a compromising situation he got into with his "new-to-him" vehicle. Apparently the locks wouldn't work, so he tried crawling through from the hatch back on the vehicle. He got wedged in over the back seat (try to remove that picture from your mind...good luck). The Mayor retells the story about a tour guide who was hoping for appreciation in the form of tips, but instead an older gentleman stood up and gave her a round of applause. Maino nearly spits his coffee out. Somehow, brilliance happens and, without any planning, we present a round of "Judge Jim Schmitt's Court". We get John's better half, Julie, on the phone to get her side of the story of the "Non-Working Kia Locks". The "Judge" sides with Julie Maino...pretty sure we all do.

  • Football Friday & LIVE Music (Hour 3)

It's Friday! That means FOOTBALL and LIVE MUSIC! We start with our "Football Friday" segment courtesy of Burkel's One Block Over. Our guest this week is former Green Bay Packer Tony Mandarich. Tony is nice enough to wake up early in Arizona to join us this morning. He talks about the fact that his brother, John, was a big inspiration to him when he was growing up. The conversation turns to picking rocks (apparently Maino never did that when he was younger), but Tony also talks a bit about the difference between the game back when he played and what it's like now. Players health, team practices, and injuries come up in the conversation. Then it's the Maino & The Mayor LIVE Music Series with Heights Pub & Parlor in Green Bay. Today it's music and fun with Dan Rafferty from Dueling Pianos. Humor and music come together with Dan. We LOVED it!

  • Sports Medicine & Heights Pub & Parlor (Hour 2)

Nate Vandervest is in for Mark Husen this morning from Bellin Sports Medicine. He talks a bit about kids physical health, but also their mental health. And the changing needs of kids in that area of their lives. Jim asks Nate if he feels our communities are healthier than it used to be. Nate's answer: It's more polarized. He believe we have folks who are very healthy, doing something everyday to be healthy, eat healthy, etc. On the other side, very unhealthy individuals. Then we welcome the lovely and talented Ashley McDermid from Heights Pub & Parlor. She swings in to talk about their new menu and have some fun with the guys.
