  • Alone with a Choice, Freeing or Restrictive?
“The more decisions that you are forced to make alone, the more you are aware of your freedom to choose.” —Thornton Wilder

Today's quote helps us remember that we are always free to choose and should celebrate the ability to make a choice.

  • How Much is That Anyway?

“The price of anything is the amount of life you exchange for it.” ~Henry David Thoreau

Often when people see or hear something they like, they will inquire how much that object would cost to acquire.  Keep in mind that this object could be a physical object, a talent, a skill or time with another.  The general thought to keep in mind here is someone has something or access to something another individual would like to possess.

Today's quote helps us put into perspective the value of skills, talents or objects.

  • Are You Overloaded From This Weeks Insanity?

Society has been dealing with very heavy levels of stress due to the Covid virus situation and the continuing increase of transmission and infections. State and local governments have been in-acting various levels of restrictions in response. Some of these have had a direct impact on individual livelihoods; in addition to the personal loss of friends, family and one's personal health.

Elements of fatigue has entered the equation due to nearly a full year of disruption has taken place. Politicians have begun to not follow their own guidelines. This is leading to increased feelings of resentment among the electorate. Adding still more stress to the issue is the political stress that lead to yesterday's violence at the Capitol building. The media has been on a 24/7 loop showing images and reporting very scary stories that many people are unable to stop watching.

You can see in many ways the impact this stress is having on people.  There has to be a way to diffuse and allow your body to distress for your own peace of mind and physical well being.

One concept to approach this can be Mindfulness Meditation. Mindfulness is the process of being present in the moment. Not focused upon the future, nor the past; but rather what is in front of you right now. There is no judgement about the conditions.

  • “Sometimes the questions are complicated and the answers are simple.”

Alignment of the answers with the objectives you are trying to reach can help simplify the vision and the ability to communicate it.   I developed a series of simple questions evolved that can be used over and over:

    What is the objective?

What does success look like, sound like, feel like?

What is missing in the current KPI?

Backward design how to add what is missing. Write a statement of the final vision of success and then walk back from that step by step to where you currently are.

  • Where Are You Going This Year?

“You’re on your own. And you know what you know. And you are the one who’ll decide where to go.” - Dr. Seuss

After the challenges of 2020, are you going to continue to float along with the flow or are you going to make a choice to do it differently this year?

Have you began to seriously consider what you are going to do differently? More importantly, WHY are you choosing to do it differently? What do you want out of this change?

  • Making a Choice to Control Your Future

“Only you can control your future.” - Dr. Seuss

So many people are trying to control what you do, where you go, how you think and influence your decisions.  I have to make a choice and a conscious decision to lead myself by doing what is right and making sure that my choices are not merrily knee jerk reactions. I cannot just follow others because I can't make up my own mind and think through the process.

About Make a Difference

From the publisher's feed

Each of us always have a choice on how we respond to situations and move our lives forward as we see fit. We can get "stuck" sometimes and producing these sessions are my way of helping me get "unstuck" and to be mindful that I have a choice. Even if I don't make a choice, I still have made a choice.
