What is paradise? Dirk Christoph from the Paradise Syndicate says that a net positive impact system is paradise. What does this mean? Climate neutral isn't enough. We talk about flipping capitalism, the Banana Point theory and different projects that are making a positive impact. Dirk is the Founder of the Paradise Syndicate, and previously started and built up one of Germany's most successful VR Companies (innoactive.io) after he worked for Siemens and BMW. After becoming a serial entrepreneur, he left the "traditional business world", bought a 38 ft Sailboat and went sailing across most of the Caribbean (from Grenada to Mexico). Kevin Sofen is currently the Business Development Manager in the water and fire technology divisions at W.S. Darley & Company, overseeing product development, market strategy, and emerging technology. During the last eight years, Kevin has successfully commercialized a range of water products that include truck integrated water purifications, packaged water in a box, and emergency response solutions, all of which are now in use by the different customers. In 2016 Kevin launched www.Wristsponsible.com, a social enterprise focused on raising financial capital and social awareness for water projects aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Wristsponsible raises money through the sale of artisan craft, incentivized crowdfunding, and corporate sponsorship. In the past three years, Kevin has contributed over $350,000 to 25+ water projects around the world.

Kevin breaks down barriers to accelerate innovation in the SDG context and seeks to connect with innovators for future collaboration. In 2020, he helped launched a podcast series to expand the discussion around the SDG’s

Maria Vasco is the founder of Uvida Shop, Boston's first Zero Waste store. Her store offers home essential products without any plastic packaging, a refill room, and even a plant room. She graduated from UMass Boston with a degree in Environmental Studies and Sustainability in 2020. Maria grew to be interested in ways to combat the plastic pollution problem through her college journey. It was in her Junior year where the university funded her proposal to open a zero-waste store in the city. In the future, Maria plans to host eco-workshops and other interactive events in the store to help raise awareness on our climate issue and support small business along the way.
