Make do with sth

means to use what you have, even if it’s not perfect or not exactly what you wanted.

Examples:

1- They didn’t live in the same city anymore, so they made do with quick voice notes and short calls — not perfect, but still a way to stay close.

2- Growing up, her family didn’t have much, but they made do with what they had — and somehow, the memories became beautiful.
