This episode we are switching things up a bit and it may continue to be more spotlight focused and more frequent. I was finally able to make it up to the Lost in Groove guys after my colossal failure and x-treme loss of important interview files. Fortunately, I had the absolute pleasure of becoming just a little bit closer to the Lost in Groove boys who qualify as some serious staples in the Sacramento scene. As some of you may already know, they are the hosts of the legendary 2nd Saturday party Technosaic that has been running consistently for the last three years. Three creative, artistic, personable and downright funny ass dudes sat down with me to talk about Sacramento, music, them, you and a bunch of other fun stuff.

Alex is a forward-thinking artist who strives to bring cool and unique art pieces and events to our city. He has many notable pieces and has been recognized on a global scale for his contributions to our city. You can not only find him locally playing music, but as you can tell from his social media, you might also run into him is some weird remote village in a jungle somewhere doing cool self-seeking world travel things. Alex's mix this month taps into the nostalgic feels of raves in the past and heavy on the broken beat sounds. What appears to be early/mids 90's high school footage, brought back so many memories. Good/bad for some, but what really struck out to me was... these were our faces... before there was 9/11, before there was mass-terrorism, before there was school shootings, before there were iPhones, social media, the rise of hate and problems in America... A massive apology to the three gentlemen behind Lost In Groove, My computer was acting up, so I decided to delete old unused folders and files and wouldn't you know it, an incredibly enjoyable, fun interview full of laughs, interesting stories and all-around joyous vibes was gone forever. Vince is a local legend that has been a major player in the Sacramento scene and beyond for as long as I can remember. Episode 20s mix is brought to you by one of the most influential and well-respected DJs in the Sacramento community and beyond. Sean Cantos has been a staple in the scene well before dinosaurs roamed the earth and continues to provide unique music, experiences and constantly lifting up new members of the community.

He is one of the founding members, if not the most founding of founders of the “Hello My Name Is (HMNI)” crew and a constant contributor to locally sourced record labels like Selekta and “Listen To House Music.” I knew when I asked Sean to submit a mix outside of the typical house music mix that he would not disappoint. Enjoy this mix while we still have warm weather and roll the windows down and let the speakers go!

We are also joined by a few of the boys from my favorite Ice Cream shop, Devil May Care at one of my favorite places to drink beer, Drakes! Devil May Care is currently a small shop with nine unique and creative flavors daily, but will be expanding to downtown very soon where they will be able to expand their offerings (CELEBRATORY!!!). Some of the cool flavors I have enjoyed have included Lucky Charms cereal milk, cornbread, elote, whiskey with salted caramel and red, white and blueberry.

First up for the month of August is a nice little house mix from yours truly, preceded by an interview with the president of Sacramento Valley Spark, Mr. Ed Fletcher.

Ed Fletcher is a long-time contributor to the Sacramento region as a journalist for the Bee, documentarian, burner, heading an initiative to bring art to Sacramento.

We are a week away from Summer Spark (Art Park Celebration) on August 10th which will feature a little taste of Buring Man with art music and themed camps.

We also chatted about his upcoming feature-length documentary film in the making "Do the Dance" explores a wild and impactful 1969 indecency trial to tell a broader story about the limits of sexual expression 50 years later. The film is slated for a 2019 release. The trial over "bottomless" dancing at a Northern California beer bar lept on to national headlines after Judge Earl Warren Jr. decided that the jury needed to see the dancer "Do the Dance."

Chris tried to escape his local roots in Sacramento to the Pacific Northwest, but realized the Sacramento gravitational pull wasn't having that and was drawn back to us...Universe...finishing college...whatever...who knows? Alex also takes us on a trip down memory lane as we learn about his famous art installation “Every day is your chance to make this city a better place.” We discuss concepts, execution and the outcome of his piece.
