No big lists of issues this week! That is because we are only looking at one thing- The Eternals, the 2021 film from the House of Mouse. It was the movie that broke many of their MCU habits. After all, would anyone risk breaking Covid-19 quarantine to see this movie in a crowded theater? Apparently some would, because this movie wasn't a total bomb at the box office. But is it any good? That's what the episode is trying to sort out.

Truly the end is near! Judgment Day awaits... and so does the end of our "Eternals" project. If you have been diligently keeping up, there's just one series left to read. Next time we'll be considering Kieron Gillen's run on the Eternals, most of it drawn by the incomparable Esad Ribic. The issues include “Eternals” (vol. 5) #1–12, as well as the “Thanos Rises” “Celestia,” & “The Heretic” One-Shots. And then onto the "Judgment Day" crossover. It's a lot of issues, so we may cover them in two halves, one for the series proper and one for the event. Are you ready?

It's grab bag time here at Make Mine Multiversity as we enter the home stretch of our Eternals journey. We're filling in the gap between Vol. 4 & 5 aka the fallow period known as the 2010s as well as picking up the more minor issues we've missed along the way. For those reading along, we discussed "Hulk" (Vol 2.) #49, "Thor: The Deviants Saga" #1–5, "Avengers" (vol. 8) #4, "Eternals Forever" One-shot, "Symbiote Spider-Man Crossroads" #4-5, "Silver Surfer" Annual #1 (1988) and Incredible Hercules #116.

Speaking of The Forgotten One. today's podcast concerns a volume of "Eternals" that a lot of people have probably never read. The fourth proper volume of "Eternals" came out in 2008. We took a look at "Eternals" #1-9 and Annual #1, which you can find those collected in "Eternals," Vol. 1: To Slay a God (#1-6) and Vol. 2: Manifest Destiny (#7-9, Annual #1). It's not much longer now, we're almost caught up to the present day.

Next time, we enter the wasteland of "Eternals" conflict. They don't get another eponymous comic until the Kieron Gillen run. We decided to bridge that gap with a handful of issues.

We will definitely be reading "Hulk" (vol 2.) #49 from May 2012; "Thor: The Deviants Saga" #1–5 from February 2012 - May 2012; Avengers (vol. 8) #4 from September 2018; "Eternals Forever" One-shot from 2021; and "Symbiote Spider-Man Crossroads" #4-5 from 2021.

We will also be trying to track down "Silver Surfer Annual" #1 (1988), "FF Unlimited" #10, and "Incredible Hercules" #116. There's are more tangentially related, but easy enough to track down and read.

Finally, we may briefly discuss a couple of issues that are really removed from the "Eternals" series proper, but we won't be covering those in as much depth. These comics include the original "Atlantis Attacks," the original "Contest of Champions," the "Real Heroes" #1 Pizza Hut comic, "Quasar" #51-58, "Fall of the Hulks: Alpha" #1 (2009), "All New Invaders" #3-5 (2014) and "All New Invaders" #13.

Despite our detour into the Marvel Max era with Chuck Austen's infamous and nearly impossible to track down "The Eternal" at the start, we're back to talk "Eternals" Vol. 3 #1-7 aka the one by Neil Gaiman and John Romita Jr. Digressions include the history of comics as summarized by 60 years of lawsuits, what is up with that art, and whether or not the comic worked as intended/did we like what was intended. At least we're out of the 90s, is all I (Elias) can say.

Next time, we take a jump one year into the future to read the FOURTH volume of "Eternals" #1-9 and Annual #1. You can find those collected in "Eternals," Vol. 1: To Slay a God (#1-6) and Vol. 2: Manifest Destiny (#7-9, Annual #1). We're in the home stretch everyone!

This time, we read some seriously weird books. We started with some classic 90s "Heroes for Hire" (Vol. 1) #4-7 (from November 1997 - January 1998) and then we read the bombastic "New Eternals: Apocalypse Now" (also known as Eternals: The New Breed) #1 (from February 2000.) This is around the place where Marvel creators lose track of continuity. That means some pretty wild swings. Not all of them connect.

Next time is more "Eternals," but with a more classic reading selection. We are reading Eternals (vol. 3) #1–7 by Neil Gaiman and John Romita Jr. We will also have a brief discussion about Chuck Austen's Marvel MAX Eternals story, but you don't have to worry about tracking that one down.

2023 is here and that means it's time for Elias and Jaina to litigate their 2022 predictions for Marvel. Who will win? Will there be another tie? And how disappointed with this make them? Oh, and we announced what the stakes are for our 2023 predictions. If Elias wins, we're forced to read "Major X" by Rob Liefeld and if Jaina wins, we'll be forced to read the "Captain America" arc 'Castaway in Dimension Z' by Rick Remender & John Romita Jr.

90s Eternals got dark! But maybe that's a good thing? At least dark is a tone; it's better to be dark than bland. Or is it? We talk about some very tacky comics that have a bit of life to them. But if you were looking for the point the "Eternals" comics fell off a cliff, this episode will have the answers you seek.

It's a new year but we're not nearly done with our read through of all of The Eternals. Join us as we dig into the twelve-issue maxi-series "The Eternals" (Vol. 2) and discover why Ikaris really shouldn't be the poster boy for these characters with digressions into the Royal Rumble, Simonson NOT on "Thor," and Kieron Gillen's first tenure on "X-Men." Give us a Vampirio and Kro issue you cowards!

Next time, we're reading Avengers (Vol. 1 ) #308-310 (October 1989- November 1989); Eternals: The Herod Factor (November 1991); Avengers (Vol. 1 ) #361, #374-375 (April 1993, May 1994 -June 1994) and possibly Avengers Spotlight #35 which features Gilgamesh and Sprite. There's no good way to find these issues outside of bargain bins, digital comics sellers, and Marvel Unlimited! Gotta love this weird, weird era.

For the curious though, you can find "Avengers" #308-310 & "Marvel Spotlight" #35 in "Avengers" by John Byrne Omnibus, "Avengers" #361 & "Marvel Spotlight" #35 in "Eternals" Cosmic Origins," and "Eternals: Herod Factor in "Eternals: The Complete Saga" Omnibus. As far as I, Elias, can tell, "Avengers" #374 & 375 are the only ones to have never been reprinted.

It's the end of the year holiday season, so we are taking a break from our regularly scheduled program. The Eternals are forever, that's kind of the point of them (but will anyone care?) This week's episode takes a look back at the year in Marvel. The MCU may feel like it's going off the rails, but there are still some fun comics, even beyond the world of "X-Men." Find out which comics we think we'll find ourselves returning to again and again.

We also have our annual predictions bet, where we try and guess at what's going to happen with Marvel stories across media. The movies have felt like the center of Marvel for so long, but maybe 2023 is the year that changes. Did this year teach us to love crossover events? Is there hope for the future of Marvel video games? Are there romance options in Marvel: Midnight Suns?

Next time, we return to the huge mega Eternals read, and it's the last time the issues will be easy to find for a good long while. We are reading Eternals (vol. 2) issues #1–12, a limited series that ran from October 1985 - September 1986. It's collected as the second half of "The Dreaming Celestial Saga," and you can also find the story on Marvel Unlimited and Hoopla Digital.

We saw the genesis of the Eternals. We saw the reinterpretation of the Eternals (with a side order of TOO MUCH RING CYCLE.) Now we get the reinvention of the Eternals in the pages of "What If..." (Vol. 1) #23-30, a modern adventure spotlighting the Deviants in "Iron Man" Annual #6, and a fun story with Starfox of all people in "Avengers" (Vol. 1) #246-248. Vision is the creepiest one there, and they meet the President in the 80s!
