    Hi friends! On this episode, we are burdened with the glorious purpose of discussing the MCU series Loki on Disney+. We talk about the ships and representation (or lack thereof) on the show, and use it as a springboard to talk about taboo in romance, with some more colorful Norse mythology thrown in. As we discuss in the episode, taboos are super personal, and triggers are as well. So please note that we’re going to touch on all sorts of touchy subjects, so if you want to skip this episode or bow out after the shipping discussions, we understand and support you knowing what’s best for you.

    Hi friends! On this episode of Make Out Already, we’re descending into the Underworld and sliding right into daddy Hades’s lap. We’re recapping “Neon Gods” by Katee Robert, the first in the Dark Olympus series of spicy, contemporary retellings of Greek myths. We talk a little about Robert’s Wicked Villains series, which is in the same universe as Dark Olympus, and her taboo series. I also bring in a little of my mythology knowledge and recommend another descent myth you should check out, and Meg shares some mythology book recs and a tarot deck we’re keeping an eye out for.

    Why are we rereleasing this episode? TO CELEBRATE NEWLY MINTED Ph.D. SHAWNA, our resident sexpert on this episode.
    On this episode of Make Out Already, we discuss the movie The New Romantic, which you can currently stream on Netflix. It’s about a college student who enters into a mutually beneficial relationship so she can document her sugarbaby experiences in hopes of winning a journalism grant. We’ll talk about whether the movie fits the criteria for a romance and what the movie says about the genre, and we’ll bring in an expert to talk about the movie’s exploration of sex work through an academic lens. We’ll go off on tangents about time travel, disagree heatedly about Brett Dier, and declare our undying love for the BDE of one Camila Mendes. For the ice cream, she used a 14-ounce can of sweetened condensed milk, a cup of milk, and a teaspoon of vanilla. Stir the ingredients together, chill for 30 minutes before putting into an ice cream maker for 10 to 20 minutes, then store in the freezer for a few hours. If you don’t have an ice cream maker, just put the mixture straight in the freezer. Add two scoops to your prettiest glass, pour the lemonade over the ice cream, and sip while daydreaming about your crush. Spike it if you wanna! This was decadent and so delicious.   • The Ice Planet Barbarians Fan Cast that BookTok Deserves
    Hi friends! You’re listening to Make Out Already. On this episode, we revisit Not-Hoth to talk about one of our favorite subjects — the big, beautiful blue men and intrepid human women who stole our hearts in Ruby Dixon’s Ice Planet Barbarians series. These books got us through the early days of quarantine last year. We’ve previously done episodes about them and some other works by Ms. Dixon, which we’ll link in the show notes. Recently, the youths on TikTok discovered the series and made it go viral, and it’s been dominating the bestseller list on Amazon. To welcome our new human friends into the rabid fandom that is IPB, we thought it would be fun to do some fan casting. Maybe we can manifest a screen adaptation, because it’s what we deserve.
    We do want to give general content warnings for the series: Sexual assault, dubious consent, kidnapping, human trafficking, graphic violence, child loss and infertility. The first book in particular gets pretty rough. So please proceed with caution and know that you can jump in anywhere in the series.
