  • Re-Imagining Online Business: The key to an engaging content strategy in 2024 (make it easy)

What stops the scroll in 2024? And how do we actually make our lives easier when it comes to our business and marketing when the landscape keeps shifting, our brains are literally being changed by smartphones, the internet, and social media, and attention and engagement are at an all-time low?

As two business consultants and coaches obsessed with content marketing, we are in regular inquiry and real-life client study about how to reach people when, in general, the people we’re trying to reach are overstimulated and overwhelmed by the amount of content they could be consuming at this point in the human existence. If we’re all on our devices filtering out what we want to read and doing it at lightning speed, how do we actually land with our audience? Hint: there’s value in making it easy.

    Topics discussed in episode 2:

    • Creating an engaging content strategy with scroll stopping content that actually orients to the current digital moment
    • Making less work for our audience, our clients, and ourselves—rather than making more, how can we make it easier
    • The new online era in which graphics don’t need to be fancy. and short, concise, and minimal “wins”
    • The value of sharing your voices more than your aesthetic
    • Developing a strategy that is human-centered rather than internet-centered

  • Mindful self compassion for entrepreneurs w/ Kristen Genzano

Running a business often reveals things to us that we didn't even know about ourselves. We are forced to look at our patterns and growth edges, what is holding us back from our goals, and who we are as a leader. In this tension, it is critical that we are able to get curious about how we can move forward differently and not fall back into old habits. This is where mindful self compassion comes in.

In this episode, Kristen Genzano (she/her), shares the pillars of mindful self compassion and how we can use it as a tool for both growth and greater ease.

  • Q+A: Running a business w/ ADHD

There is so much information available for staying organized, prioritizing, and being productive as a business owner. But what if you are not neurotypical and the standard approach does not actually jive with how your brain operates?

Today I am joined by Justine Clay (she/her) who is a business coach and ADHD life coach to answer a listener question on how to get stuff done as someone with ADHD who has realized their old ways of operating were unhelpful, but doesn't have a new alternative that works.

  • Practical self care during challenging times w/ Steff Gallante

How do you keep showing up to your work when the demands of your life and the horrors of current events are beating you down? Well as much as you might groan when I say this, self care is a big part of it.

This week I am joined by Steff Gallante (she/her) to talk about basic self care practices that might not seem like they will have a profound impact on your work, but if they are neglected, are absolutely negatively impacting how you show up to your business and your ability to keep going.

In this episode we talk about:

    1. Why we have to rethink the idea of sustainability and how we create sustainable work practices
    2. How to be intentional about what we are using our capacity to show up to
    3. Why basic self care practices are so critical to our ability to keep showing up
    4. The 4 self care practices to implement first if you are feeling burnt out or overwhelmed
    5. The 8 practices to implement if you have the capacity, and are looking for more ways to replenish yourself and keep showing up

  • Q+A: should I hire a contractor or employee?

Growing your business will almost definitely require you to grow your team. Many online business owners default to hiring multiple independent contractors in specialized roles to meet their needs, but that's not always the best choice. There are important differences between independent contractors and employees that you should be aware of before growing your team.

In this episode founder of Hire Breakthrough, Kimone Napier (she/her), joins the show to answer our questions about how to decide who to hire and how to find the right person for the job.

  • The state of online business in 2023

A couple of weeks ago I put up an instagram post about the reality that many established online business owners are currently experiencing some of the most challenging months of their career right now, at the end of 2023.

I got a significant response to this post, so we are here to have an expanded conversation on the topic. And my hope is that you walk away from this with a a fresh perspective on how to approach problem solving in your business, and the understanding that this is actually a ripe opportunity for growth that, if approached creatively, could set us up for success in this changing landscape.

In this episode we talk about:

4:00 : What I am observing as a business coach with an established network of online business owners, and the current struggles faced by online business owners in 2023.

7:33 : Why I think it’s happening and how I’m personally choosing to respond

25:47 : Some of the discourse that has become commonplace in the business development world that is not helpful for this moment

39:00 What to focus on in Q4 of 2023 to successfully take advantage of this current growth opportunity
