This is the first episode of Making It, a podcast for young sports media professionals and college students. In each podcast, University of Nebraska-Lincoln senior Grant Hansen sits down with a number of guests from the sports media industry to explore what it means to make it in the field.

In the opening episode of the series, Hansen explores what it means to be successful in sports media. This week’s guests include HuskerOnline publisher Sean Callahan, Mike’l Severe of the City of Papillion and Hurrdat Sports as well as ESPN’s Matt Schick. 

Hansen dives into each guest’s background and details their rise in the field. He asks how is success defined? How much of success is timing? Do sports media professionals make their own luck? What traits define a successful sports media member? Answers to those questions and many more come the listener’s way in the debut episode of Making It.
